One thousand years ago, Nightmare Moon overpowered Celestia and banished her to the sun. As dictator of Equestria she's come to a slow eventual conclusion. She needs someone in charge of relations. And, like any good dictator would do with a undesirable job, she outsourced it.

This story is a sequel to The Perilous Romance of Swans

An entire house is consumed by darkness and devoured by the stuff of nightmares. A foal is trapped within this house, which is now a nest of terrors.

Princess Luna arrives to deal with the nightmares leaking into the waking world and close the rift.

But this is no ordinary darkness.

After Celestia dismissed her warnings about Nightmare Moon, Twilight Sparkle decides to take matters into her own hooves. She finds a spell to be able to travel to the moon so that she can save Equestria.

She then also decides that blowing up Nightmare Moon is the best way to go. Way to go, Twilight!

She did not know how, she did not know why, but before her banishment on her moon, Nightmare Moon experienced every kind of pain. Pains of the mind, body, and spirit. But they healed in time, forgotten to memory.

After being separated from the darker, uninhibited versions of themselves, Celestia and Luna set out to reform them. After months of work, training, and discussions to set the pair on a better path, the sisters host both Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker together in a private, casual dinner to see how well the two have been listening.
