She's looking at you. Yes you. And she is judging you with her eyes. There is no escape.

Private Gosling, now courting Princess Celestia, must learn to play a difficult and sometimes dangerous game. Gosling, known for being cool, calm, and collected under pressure, soon finds that he is in over his head. Nobles, the press, one somewhat miffed prince, plus one terrifying Night Princess who roams the castle halls at night all continue to test him and try his patience.

Princess Celestia, a seasoned veteran of the game, instead faces an internal set of challenges.

Will the two of them overcome the odds or will this budding romance end in heartbreak?

An entry in the Weedverse.

Created a belly button fetish joke among the nobility of Fimfic.

So much could go wrong. Everything go sideways. Twilight Sparkle might start dancing.

:twilightangry2::I'm not that bad a dancer!

Typo spotted and fixed. Yikes!

All downvotes on this fic comes from ducks.

Glad to see this is up. Luna is really going to have her work cut out for her in preparing him for the challenges to come.

7134217 I think at least one came from a disgruntled seagull.

7134301 Indeed, sir! Indeed!

Twilight Sparkle might start dancing.

Celestia should plan for this to happen. Ideally near the press corps. She should also make sure the CMC are there to 'help the reporters with their cameras' and stuff, too. What could possibly go wrong? :trollestia::eeyup:

:applejackunsure:I dunno, sugarcube.
:ajsmug:However, I CAN say you've a style all your own.

Gonna read this as soon as I finish the new chapter of Catherine, preemptively liked and faved anyway.

7134339
: And I'm proud of it!

Twilight's dancing alone could start wars.

Twilight Sparkle might start dancing.

7134376 :pinkiegasp:Or end them! See, we just tell the offended party that if they don't concede to Equestria's terms and demands we'll send Twilight Sparkle, SciTwi, and a stack of records to their capital, have Trixie drum up an audience, and then force everyone to watch the spectacle! Nopony would be able to stop us! We'd rule the world! And then we'd stop for hayburgers and fruit smoothies.:pinkiehappy:

Is reading this necessary to understanding key points through out the Weedverse, specifically VI and PTSFFF?

7134528

It will paralel PTSSfFF. Gosling will appear in that story. VI takes place years before this even happens.

7134554

If it isn't your cup of tea, no worries.

7134577
Thank you, I'd hate to drop the Weedverse over one story.

7134582
Sorry Kudz, I just don't care of Gosling and the whole setup. I know you're a great writer and have tons of other works for me to follow and adore, but it doesn't interest me.
Pegasi are my least favorite of the three clans and I prefer your more action packed work to romance novels. I understand you need to recharge and cleanse the palate, so I can't fault you for it.
It's not like I'm pulling my funding or support, I'm just going to sit this one out. Plenty of others like it, and I can patiently wait until you go back to updating things I do like.

Yes!! Let the adorableness begin! I request more!

7134594

I have both Chase Chapters and VI chapters in the crude draft stages at the moment. The big battle with Ripple is coming and an old friend is coming back in VI. :yay:

Author's Note:
Oh no, what have I done?

You unleash the romance! :pinkiegasp:

Wait... What's the Weedverse?

Cutie mark of a rubber duck. Oh, this won't end well. Or it will end in the bathtub. Or maybe things will just start in the bathtub and... I better stop there.

7134614
An old friend could either be very good or very bad. . .either way entertaining!

“It is I, Private Gosling, and I ask for your permission to come inside, Princess Celestia.”

“Oh dear… to so boldly announce your intentions!”

:rainbowhuh:

:rainbowkiss:

:rainbowlaugh:

Oh good Lord, Gos. You just... you just said it. Didn't even think twice. You're gonna be a fountain of giggles for Celestia.

Well, I think I need to read into the Weed-verse now. Haven't been just so I don't get it and the Chase-verse confused but content is content and you're one hell of a writer. Cheers.

God damnit, Kudzu... You magnificent man, you.

Another one to add to my tracking shelf.

...srsly though, do you have a schedule for when you upload new chapters? Or do you just upload them when you're done?

7135378

Chapters just happen, mang.

7135540

KK... back to lurking, I guess. Thanks for the reply!

Before I read this-
Thank you!!!!!

Still not a fan of the age thing, but still well-written.

7135674

That's a human bias.

These are equines. They begin speaking within days of birth and show remarkable maturity within one year as seen in the show. (It's my first ever Nightmare Night!)

You shouldn't apply your own social conditioning to an alien species, mang. It's like trying to write about ponies going to a strip club, no matter how you try to force it, it just doesn't work.

7135685

Yes, but as I have mentioned in a past comment, it complicates things when you mix and match your preferences for bias. Of course it's a human bias. The entirety of the story, and the one previous, is build on just that, human bias. If you are going to shift the bias to that of equines, it would wise to mention it within the first chapter or two of the original work (something simple, as you said, they speak within one year, a line between mothers of how their child said their first word at only nine months, things like that.)
When you don't leave any of those hints, and blindside the readers with a different bias, that's when things tend to see a bit off.

I am increasingly feeling sorry for poor Gosling, trapped between two such terrible mares. :rainbowlaugh:

7135700

Well said, sir/ma'am! I agree--I love the story, but a little bit of explanation on that point would be great. In this first chapter, Kudzu does say he's "on the cusp of adulthood"--but, some more context as to what that means would be ideal. Like, is he 17 in human years (i.e., he'll be legal in six months or something)? Or emotionally mature, but physically not? w/e.

Again, I'm still reading, and I'm excited to see where it goes, despite this slight problem!

EDIT: alternately, if we're mis-reading the character and he is really, really young, that's fine--but I would still love that clarification. Heck, might be an opportunity for Luna to needle Celestia over (literally?) cradle-robbing :)

7135748
Glad I'm not the only one!
Honestly, it's the out-of-the-blue that does it for me. I mean, even Celestia says he's young and rather shocked at the suggestion. That implies a bias that the age is NOT about to be an adult, but then contradicted. If there were hints, I'd be more than on board.

7135748
Actually, legal age of consent in most places, including over half the US is 16. And in all honesty, using 18 as an arbitrary age is kinda pointless. It isn't like the moment someone turns 18 they will suddenly be any more mature, knowledgeable, or instantly ready for anything involving 'Adulthood'. That is really only the number for smoking, in some countries drinking, voting, gambling, and various other things.

our engagement to be engaged...

I've heard of planning ahead but that's ridiculous.

I read this and I instantly loved it...

and then I noticed the author and mind=blown!

Great sh** Kudz, but even moreso by the fact that I didn't even recognize it was yours until I had already decided I loved it!

A topic touched upon in the previous story. Different rules for courting royals.

7136176
Huh. I missed that.
