Twilight Sparkle returns to the human world intending to take a short vacation from her princessly duties, and to catch up with her non-Equestrian friends. One sleepover at Pinkie Pie’s house later, Twilight comes to learn something fascinating—and horrifying—about her very human body.

This story now has a spiritual prequel: Sunset Shimmer's Unpleasant Discovery, by Bootsy Slickmane, rated [mature]. While mine pokes fun at the characters, his offers the more serious take.

With the pressure of saving the world on her shoulders once again, Twilight is feeling more than a little nervous. And while Sunset isn't in the same exact situation per say, they find that they have more in common than they thought.

Sunset Shimmer talks to Twilight about her feelings of idolization towards Celestia, and about the person she can only become without her.

Takes place during Rainbow Rocks.

Something has been bothering her girlfriend for a while now. Sunset Shimmer has never been one to let anything go. Come ponies or Equestrian magic she will figure out what is bothering Twilight Sparkle.

Sunset Shimmer's life was good, she had plenty of friends and greatly enjoyed where she had eventually ended up in life. It's a shame then that reality had a different opinion on where she belonged. Now stuck in the past prior to first leaving for the human world, Sunset will have to figure out what kind of direction she wants to take in life this time around.

After all, the future she herself lived with her friends was not reachable without doing things that she now found appalling. Even so, she knows that staying in Equestria could very well doom the world to a much darker future. If she had time to draft a plan she could probably figure out something that would keep herself out of the way while also not affecting the timeline, it's a shame then that the two princesses of Canterlot would just not leave her alone!

Apparently this thing got feature mere days after publishing... somehow.

"Hey, you used to be Celestia's student, right? Did you know Sunset Shimmer?"

Monsters. Mythical Beasts. Legendary Creatures. To humans, they're nothing more than stories. To the students at Canterlot High, their existence is a bit more believable. To Sunset Shimmer, the myths and folklore she reads about in English class could've been an everyday occurrence. In Equestria at least. That is, until she heard a story about a certain mountain.

Time passes...

Hearts change...

Bonds that once seemed unbreakable become distant memories.

For Sunset Shimmer, the glorious years of her youth have long passed. She's put down roots, and built a life for herself at Canterlot High. The bustle and excitement of yesteryear becomes replaced with the peace and tranquility of routine.

All that changes when the past comes back to visit...
