Amidst the Battle of the Bands, the tension between the Rainbooms, and school finals, Rainbow Dash's tough exterior cracks one night.

I often wonder what led me here, what series of events long ago set off, triggering different actions and places until I ended up here, right now, in this bed, with a numb and tired heart. 

I used to think it would get better. ‘Surely’, I thought, ‘My love will be enough. I can fix her and then she can return the same support.’

What a laugh, an absolutely remarkable joke. 

It truly is a funny thing, how relationships change.

Inspired by the song War by Icon for Hire, specifically the start of the chorus. Mostly a depressing little drabble cause of feelings and stuff.

The Mirror Portal is a mysterious device, capable of bridging gaps between worlds and allowing access between them. It's one of the most powerful creations of magic known to equinity, and nobody knows what might cause it to falter and smash the two worlds together like a poorly built Newton's Cradle.

So naturally two bullheads figure out how to exploit it.

Applejack's home has many extra rooms, but one is a bit more special than the rest. A tiny guestroom sits right above her bed, with an open trap door in between. Perfect for late-night chats when the thoughts are too loud for sleep.

People with nowhere to go, or no one else to talk to. Friends in need of support, and enemies in need of friends. They all find their way to that guestroom. Applejack is the rock of the group, and that won't be changing anytime soon.

...That's the plan, anyway.
