It is during the reign of Princess Twilight Sparkle. Thanks to her and her friends, the land of Equestria had been relatively safe and quiet.

But when monsters from beyond the skies begin falling to the planet below, chaos quickly starts to spread.

The Cutie Mark Crusaders, (grown up by this point and working in different towns), are caught up in an attack on their disparate locations, whence they meet some heroes from the same place as many of the monsters originated.

For them and other familiar Ponies, lives were about to change forever.

Side note: For the purpose of this story, Ponies have an ability called Innocuous Hands. They can switch between two and four legs at will.

After a conversation with the Mane Six causes Spike's mind to wander and fill with worries, he tries to find a quiet spot to collect his thoughts and think things thru. However, during his "free time", he finds himself in the magic mirror room again. As he watches himself, he makes a simple, silly mistake that ends up sending him back to that strange, pony-less world. This time, he doesn't have Twilight's help, but the strangest thing is the way he appears there: much less dog-like and much more...human.

(This story is located in a "flexible" timeline, the only events that occurred in the human world were the ones of the first movie.)

During the time Twilight and Spike visit alternate versions of Equestria whilst trying to stop Starlight, one of the worlds had an anomaly of the extreme, diverted so far from the original that an entirely new world had been created.

The only remaining resident of this world decides that he won't just disappear.

I didn't do it. They did. The voices and the eyes and the ponies I wanted to protect. No. Yes. Stop. Help. Please. I didn't.

As a colt, Victor Arsenault was extremely close with his parents. Being an only child, he was not only showered with love but heavily disciplined. With so many firearms around the house, he was taught at a very young age their dangers but also the mechanics and often had shooting lessons. Both his mother and father were gunsmiths so he has been around guns his whole life, shooting becoming second nature for him. But knowing the risky circumstances of the fallout, his father often had to make trips to deliver custom guns to support his family. Each of these dangerous trips was a reminder of how fragile a life is so he would always wear a dog tag in case anything happened to him. Years passed relatively comfortably thanks to these trades and Victor had earned his very own dog tag in hopes of supporting the family one day too. One day, his father went on another one of these trips but had not returned. Fearing the worst, his mother set off to retrieve him, dead or alive. Days went by. Those days turned into weeks. Victor could not take any more of the uncertainty of his parents’ well-being and was prompted to look for both his kin with the help of his partner, Killjoy, and some friends he meets along the way.

Visiting Twilight at the Town Hall had been fun, no denying it.

The revelations were shocking, and the gifts are appreciated. Naturally.

The time is looking up, more than had been expected.

Promises had been made. Promises among friends are to be adhered to, of course.

But what will the time at Hogwarts be like, after everything that is to change?
