A one-shot created simply to vent, initially, I wrote this in an hour after a rare jolt of inspiration. If anyone enjoys this, then that makes my day! As well as that, this isn't what I'd usually write so I hope I did a smashing good job.

Velvet Step remembers her grandfather.

But her grandfather seems to be having trouble remembering her.

During a playful conversation two friends accidentally open a portal to a different world and are forced through. They find themselves in Equestria and as ponies which in and of itself isn't terrible, but it turns much worse when they realize that they are children as well. Now they have to figure out a way to outsmart Equestria's Social Services, get along at school, earn a living, and keep up their cover as an independent set of brothers; all while trying to figure out how to get back to Earth or at least make themselves their proper ages again. Puberty sucked enough the first time around.

John Apple, aging human farmer, has recently been injured in an accident by one of his horses. The doctors say he'll be unable to take care of his farm anymore due to considerable chronic back pain he will suffer for the rest of his years.

Farming had been his passion all his life, and had always been used to distract from the loneliness he felt from never having taken a wife, or raising children. Now faced with the prospect of losing his farm, having no options for meaningful employment, and the loneliness he can no longer distract himself from, he decides to bring an end to it all.

But what's this? He's still alive? Why did he wake up as a horse? How are these other horses able to talk? Why do these Apple horses keep calling him their father? And, perhaps most importantly, after finding himself with the family he had always wanted, does he dare tell them the truth?

This story is a sequel to Savage: Encounters

It has always been known that the Everfree Forest was a dangerous and mysterious place. But now, after the appearance of a new and truly unknown creature, it has become an even more dangerous place, where one could easily lose their life.

This story was made as an alternate ending for the Savage: Encounters chapter Close Call.
