Sometimes, evil can hide in the most innocent things... but what happens when the inner good is covered by an appearance of evil?

Everypony has a dark side to them. Something they fear, something that could destroy them. As a certain purple unicorn is forced to use dark magic, she finds her fears threatening to consume her...Along with the darkness inside.

This story occurs directly after the end of season 3: episode 2. If you haven't seen it yet, go and watch it before reading this story. (This story is my take on where i think they're going to go with that dark magic we saw, it wasn't used nor explained nearly enough in that episode.)

Twilight Sparkle stood on her hind legs, her forelegs to her side swaying back and forth as her scythe dropped to the ground. Tears welling up in her eyes, she looked down at the corpse that laid before her, still young, but ready to die. It wasn't her fault she was chosen for this, all because she became fascinated with new powers.

"I can't believe this."

Twilight stared over the horizon, gazing on the city of Ponyville in the distance. It's inhabitants, who once saw her as one of their best friends, now barely knew her. She could walk the streets to Sugar Cube Corner, or help her friend Applejack on the family's farm. She could even sit in her Library with Spike and read her favorite books.

But none of it would be the same.

"I am evil."

Equestria's past and future has never been set in stone. A single pebble sends ripples through the fabric of time, and now nothing is the same.

An ancient being rules a kingdom with an iron, yet playful fist.

His apprentice questions her loyalty, both to herself and to her country.

An earth pony leads a revolution against a ruler who may be a tyrant.

A pegasus learns to fly on her own merit, but struggles to face reality.

A unicorn desperately tries to convince a dear friend that murder is not, and never will be the answer.

A farmer tries to find another way to live, and yet cannot even fathom why she has been left here.

A pony who loves nothing binds herself to the ground, desperately searching for a reason to exist.

And two princesses are trapped together in stone, communicating to the only one who can save them in the only way they can.

The board is set. The die is cast. Fates are never linear, and the cards lie through their teeth to get what they want. Who will live, and who will die? Who will fall and who will fly?

Dear reader, I apologize...

But that is not for you to decide.

What happens if Princess Luna is never returned to normal? If the Elements of Harmony didn't purge her of Nightmare Moon, if instead they destroyed Nightmare Moon and any hope for Celestia to reunite with her sister?
For Celestia, it means many nights of the deepest sorrow and regret.
And for Twilight Sparkle.. it means a trip through time itself.

Eons ago, fiends fought over six crests that were forgotten by time, and ponies took over since then. The Tree of Harmony has been destroyed, and the Elements the branches held were nowhere to be found. None could pin a culprit to this heinous crime. When Twilight receives a half-blank book that's illegible, she gets attacked by a creature seen not by her eyes before.

Would the book, illegible as it is, as well as the first battle that would serve to thrust her into more battles to come and unanswered questions, have something to do with the missing Elements of Harmony?

Crossover with Demon's Crest, wherein crossover elements will play out much more heavily in later chapters, as will the dark element. Tags will change as needed. More vivid battle scenes, but not too vivid, will show up later on in later chapters as well. Coverart done entirely by me. Updates will be irregular.

Twilight will be forced to undergo a long battle with the forces of Chaos in order to return home to Equestria, after the disguised Chrysalis sent her to another dimension to get the only one who was suspicious of her out of the way. She will gain new powers and skills, and realize some things about herself that she hadn't before.

Celestia had been looking for the one who would wield 'The Key'. For years she had tried to find the one who would open the door to the light, the one that could save Equestria from darkness. What she found was Twilight Sparkle.

A mlpxKingdom Hearts crossover. This crossover is a mlp story that uses a lot of Kingdom Hearts elements.

Twilight Sparkle wakes up one day and her whole life is gone. Her friends are missing and there are monsters roaming the streets of every town throughout Equestria. What can she do to save her missing friends? And if she does, will her life ever be able to go back to the way it was before?

Twilight begins an epic journey to save her friends from the endless hordes of Heartless. (Note: you don't need to know anything about Kingdom Hearts to read this. This theory has been tested by a group of my friends who know nothing of the game series. Regardless, I recommend the games to everyone, for there are many little Easter Eggs that I've hidden :D)

I am looking for a proofreader, to try and help me with my revisions. I am going back and looking at, and rereleasing each existing chapter of this series, as well as the ones that have yet to be released, making them all into the same format.
