Discord's the only creature in Equestria who can recognize the human for what he is -- not the long-lost Seventh Element that never actually existed and couldn't have existed before the human arrived, but a meta-reality warper, an entity far more powerful than Discord with the power to warp the minds of all around him and the very rules of magic to make sure that he's always the Big Hero. And the role the human's assigned to Discord is the Villain to beat down or kill.

Pre-reform Discord's fine with being the villain. But on his own terms. Not dancing on some alien interloper's puppet strings.

Without friendship, or even allies, Discord's going to have to find a way to defeat a creature who can alter fate itself and who can even mind-control him. Or he may just end up worse than dead.

Celestia and Discord--tense acquaintances, close friends, or something more? It seems like they must spend some time together off screen to have developed any relationship at all. But of course Celestia only has nights free, and Discord, no matter when he hangs out with somepony, always has to make things interesting with his chaotic ways. And so we end up with some 'interesting nights' for the sun princess and the master of chaos...all alone...in Celestia's room...frequently.

Just what could they be doing in there?

(Yes, John de Lancie said a sentence, and I wrote a ten thousand word story about it. I knew something like this would happen if I went to his two panels at Bronycon, but I did it anyway, and I have no regrets! )

It was the evening of Hearth's Warming. Stallions hurried home from work to celebrate with their families, mothers were busy buying last-minute gifts for their daughters and sons and little foals were sitting in front of the chimney, waiting for presents and a festive dinner.
As the sun begins to set and it grows darker and darker on the streets, only few ponies remained outside.
One of these ponies was a little filly. Even though it was cold and even though nopony stopped for her, she abided the frost and the darkness.

The law exists to protect Equestrian citizens, and must be enacted in a fair and even manner. Prince Blueblood knows this; he's accepted punishment for his numerous minor disturbances of the Equestrian legal system, without ever trying to slip out of it.

Fluttershy is in violation the law. Ergo, she must be brought to justice. That's just logic.

Trying to patrol the dreams of every pony in Equestria can be stressful. To ease her burden, Luna retools the Tantabus to turn nightmares into good dreams instead of vice versa. Aware of her mistakes from last time, she tests it out thoroughly, making sure there are no unexpected behaviors. And as far as she can tell, there are none.

Except that it's started calling her "Mom".

Faced with the prospect of possibly creating life, Luna seeks out Twilight's advice and assistance. With a little luck, they can get this all sorted out before the sun rises.
