This story is a sequel to For Want of a Horseshoe

Shining Armor's younger sister is many things: studious, awkward, devastatingly brilliant, neurotic, and occasionally, the rebellion's unwitting premier magical researcher in the fight against Nightmare Moon.

What she is not, is an alicorn from the future.

No, this Twilight Sparkle is not Shining Armor's younger sister.

That doesn't mean he's not going to tease her mercilessly, After all, she is still Twilight Sparkle.

A side story to For Want of a Horseshoe. The events herein happen concurrently with Chapter 7. The other stories in this series can be found below.

1. For Want of a Horseshoe
2. A Big Brother's Duty <-- you are here

Twilight Sparkle discovers that the alternate timelines created by Starlight Glimmer in her misguided attempt at revenge did not, in fact, disappear when the original timeline was restored. Instead, they persisted as separate, parallel universes.

Never one to leave a job unfinished, she decides to employ the magic of friendship to restore those universes to a more harmonious state.

She begins with Nightmare Moon.

This story is the first in a series. The other stories can be found below.

To Twilight Sparkle and Princess Celestia, it is a simple surprise visit to Canterlot. To the ponies of the Equestrian Civil Service, it is twenty-four hours of chaos, politics, weaponized dessert, politics, underhooved manipulation of media, politics, and things batrachian and tentacular. Who said bureaucracy isn't exciting?

As rationales go, you shouldn't allow first-year Gifted School students to have a project fair for the same reason you don't test dynamite by kicking it into the nearest wall. But since everypony else has moved on, the current school staff decided to show Celestia just how they were going to repeat the same old mistake. Because while this day may host ideas waiting for their time to come, that time is not now.

No matter how much anypony wants it to be.

Everypony is telling us, “It’s so amazing you two got Princess Luna to be the Mare of Honor at your wedding! And Princess Celestia as a guest!”

Everypony is meaning, “How in Tartarus did you, two middle-class mathematicians of no apparent social connections, achieve the social coup of the decade, upstaging all of the Canterlot aristocracy and peerage?”

The short answer is, “We made friends with somepony lonely and hurting who needed a friend.”

The long answer? Well, Princess Luna has given me permission to tell you the story. The entire story. Even the dark bits, from her foalhood. Which, I warn you before you begin, are dark. But I promise the ending is happy—after all, look at our wedding pictures! Have you ever seen a picture of Luna with such a big smile on her face?

Sequel to A day in Canterlot Juvenile Court, but can be read independently.

Story inspired by a comment by Veylon at the prequel. Thanks!

The charge is FWI—flying while intoxicated—and the filly is recovering from a broken wing and shattered jaw.

Judge Book Thrower has run Canterlot Juvenile Court for seventy years, doing everything she can to help foals turn around their lives and make better decisions.

Every few months, Princess Celestia shows up In Book Thrower’s courtroom and takes a special hoof in one of the cases, trying to help foals who would otherwise have nopony to help them.

Today, the judge and Celestia must find a way to help a special filly before she descends further into alcoholism and delinquency.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: not a Cozy Glow story! Pinkie Promise.

Follows my Unexpected Stories Over Drinks but reads completely independently.

Now has a sequel: Spoiler title

Chapters (1)

It’s Pinkie’s birthday, she’s the last of the crew to reach legal drinking age, and everypony gathers at a tavern to celebrate.

After Luna joins them, however, and the night goes on, the conversation turns to both funny and sad topics as the friends discuss their past romantic accomplishments, and mistakes.

It's been six months since Rarity and Rainbow Dash were married. It's been six months since Rarity and Sweetie Belle's parents passed away.

It's been six months since Rarity and Rainbow Dash took in Sweetie Belle.

Will Hearth's Warming make or break their fragile new family?

Winner of the Holiday Contest!

Now, this story deserved the Grand Prize. Everything good that could be in a story, is in this story. There’s hurt, there’s comfort, there’s awwww-moments, there’s ouch,ouch,ouch-moments, an ending that will leave you in tears for a good hour… And the unexpected little twists that, as a Rainbow fan, I absolutely loved. A fall? Addiction? Her fears of another; her fears of somepony else following in her hoofsteps? Beautiful.

It's no secret that Spike has a crush on Rarity - and it's no secret that it's going nowhere. How could a fabulous seamstress love a tiny dragon?

But Spike has a plan. A cunning plan.

By feeding Twilight all of his material, he can profess his love for Rarity through another - another that she might find more acceptable. And perhaps win her heart that way.

Or at least, that's what he tells Twilight he's doing.
