This is a parody of "The Count of Monte Cristo" starring Spike the Dragon. When the dragon is presumed dead by his friends, but is in reality given a chance at a brand new exciting life, a whole new world opens up for the dragon. With a new name, and wealth beyond measure, Spike hopes to get revenge on those who wronged him, and become worthy of the love of his life, Rarity.

Author's Note: I LOVED "The Count of Monte Cristo"! It was just incredible! You have to read the book, or at least see a movie. Of course, this isn't an exact parody (No prison, no treasure hunt, and a few other things), also, I don't exactly remember the book word for word anyway. However, I do believe that you will enjoy this fan fic, whether you like or have read the book or not.

One warrior to challenge the dead. The Abhorsen is this warrior, the legacy passed from generation to generation. When one Abhorsen falls, another must take their place, using the Free Magic art of Necromancy in cooperation with the magic that is the Charter to prevent the Dead from walking once in life.

Twilight is the daughter of the magician, The Abhorsen. Ever since the age of five she has lived outside of the Wall, outside of The Old Empire of Warhorse - far away from the uncontrolled power of Free Magic, away from the Dead who walk again in life.

But now her father is missing and Twilight is called upon to cross from the comfortable world of Equestria back into the world that she was born into so that she may find him. Leaving the safety of the school she has known as home, Twilight must embark upon a quest fraught with supernatural dangers, with companions she is not certain of. After all, nothing is as it seems in the Empire.

For there she must confront an evil that threatens much more than her life and that of her father. Armed with the sword of the Abhorsen and the Seven Necromantic bells, she will come face to face with her hidden destiny...

Based off of the Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix... because Garth Nix is awesome.

During an experiment, Twilight manages to bring a bottle containing a mysterious orange liquid into Equestria. Her curiosity gets the better of her and she decides to taste it, purely in the interests of science.

She soon finds that the pony body isn't designed to handle the awesomeness that is Irn Bru, at least not without some rather odd side effects. Side effects that her unfortunate assisstant will now have to put up with...

The grey unicorn who turned up dead outside the posh High Step Hotel seemed like just another case, but her missing horn is the pointy tip of a very large and nasty iceberg. It's up to Hardy and his friends - a rejected monster hunter, a psychic cab driver, and an underground antiques heir - to find out what’s going on in an investigation that promises to stick more than a cupcake into the very eye of Detrot.

Especially if Hardy has anything to say about it.

After they set off to meet with Zecora for a spot of tea and a catch up, Fluttershy and her friends find themselves attacked by a large pack of Timberwolves causing Fluttershy to become separated from the group. After becoming wounded and lost deep within an unfamiliar part of the forest and with the wolves on her tail, she is rescued from certain death by the most unusual creature.
