When Sombra, ex-ruler of the Crystal Empire, is discovered alive and well, Twilight has her hooves full keeping the tyrannical king in check. Instead of the original plan of throwing him in a dungeon or banishing him to Tartarus, Celestia decides to go with the plan that worked out well enough for Discord.

Pinkie takes the job, and gets right to work in helping Sombra become a better pony. Will Sombra finally change from his old, wicked ways and reform? Or will he instead strangle the annoying, pink menace known as Pinkie Pie?

It’s strange times for changelingkind. Their despotic Queen has been overthrown and the traditional system of Queens with her. ‘Liberty’ and ‘Democracy’ have finally arrived for a species who’ve been squashed beneath the fat rump of tyranny for generations. To take the helm of their reborn nation, the changelings elect the charismatic Lord Hopper as President of the Federal Changeling Republic.

This young noble, notorious for his playcolt lifestyle of partying, booze and an infinite string of marefriends, doesn't exactly seem to fit the bill of somechangeling who’s being hailed at home and abroad as the “modern champion of democracy”. But now elected on a platform promising wealth and love aplenty for his revolution-wary citizens, as well as rebuilding friendly and closer relations with Equestria with the Alicorn Princesses’ support, President Hopper’s issue of Equestrian Times' 'Stallion of the Year' looks a shoe-in.

… Providing, of course, he doesn’t totally screw it up first. As they say, “once playcolt, always a playcolt.”

Twilight never thought anything would come of her adventure in the magic mirror. She and her friends had saved Equestria again, period, end of discussion. It wasn't out of the ordinary, not for her.

Then, months later, a member of the Royal Guard arrives with Sunset Shimmer, broken, humbled, and ready to become Twilight's slave... forever.

Twilight's life suddenly becomes a myriad of new complications, not the least of which is explaining all this to her friends. Everypony has a different opinion, but one thing is clear: none of this will be resolved easily. And it may just tear the Elements apart before it's finished.

Deciding that Fluttershy did such a great job with Discord, Celestia sends King Sombra, Queen Chrysalis, and Gilda to Ponyville to be cured of their villainous ways. All of this as Ponyville runs to win 'nicest village of the year' award for the thirteenth time running, while trying not to win the 'most disaster prone village of the year' award. Discord couldn't be more amused.

It's a hectic time for the mane six and a terrible time to be the mayor of Ponyville.

These questions begin to take their toll as Rainbow Dashes visit wears on until Gilda finally snaps. Will Gilda be able to save herself, or will the pain inside swallow her whole?

There comes a point when you can no longer run from the things you've done. Ryan Williams believes that he has reached this point, but sometimes, just as we are about to close one door, another opens before us, changing our lives in ways we could never have imagined.

Queen Chrysalis has only one grub that has survived into fillyhood; her daughter, the physically lame and mentally impaired Crown Princess Pupa. Chrysalis has never been what many would call the 'maternal type', even towards Pupa, whose adoration of her mother has no bounds. Preferring to swamp herself in the dire affairs of state, Chrysalis lets her crippled daughter be raised by her affectionate nanny.

But one day, as the Changeling Kingdom's problems reach boiling point, the Queen's already short temper erupts and she must deal with the heartbreaking consequences...
