It's been two and a half years since Twilight Sparkle returned from the other world, leaving Sunset Shimmer in the company of the alternate group of friends she made. However, not all has gone well for her one-time rival in the other world. On the night of the 30th moon, Sunset emerges from the mirror and uses an ancient relic to switch their bodies. Alone in the care of Sunset's overbearing ex-tutor, Twilight uncovers the forgotten past that drove her rival to such desperation, while back in Ponyville, Sunset struggles with Twilight's lifestyle clashing with her own dreams.

A few days after the Nightmare Moon Incident, Spike awakens to find Twilight acting a little...odd. Or odder than usual anyway. All of a sudden she's being all motherly, sure of herself in ways she's never been before, and even more outgoing.

But…it’s kind of creepy how she just seems to know everypony’s name, or their habits, and even some stuff nopony else should know.

But she's still good old Twilight...right?

Princess Celestia is still reeling from the loss of Sunset Shimmer. She'd done what she had to, but somehow she feels like it wasn't just a student she's lost.

Flash Sentry and Rainbow Dash, a couple?Who would have seen this coming?

Not Rainbow Dash. She was just taking a nap when she heard Twilight Sparkle and flash Sentry break up. She saw it coming, but she can't help but feel bad for the handsome lad. Did she, the element of loyalty, really just think he was handsome?
Either way, she decides to at least talk to him to make sure he's okay. What happens next, she could never in her wildest dreams believe would happen.

This is a sequel only in the sense that the prequel shares the same continuity. None of the other related stories are required reading to understand the others.

30 moons have passed, and Sunset Shimmer sets on her way home. She's confused and upset, and she can only pray for a chance to prove her worth in Equestrian society once more. She receives so much more than that.

Season 5 and all but the first of the Equestria Girls movies are not canon to this story.
