Between when the girls flew up in a ball of rainbow magic to defeat Tirek and when they landed back in Ponyville at Twilight's new castle, Discord and Spike were just left on the sidelines at the Harmony Tree and didn't show up again until they popped out from behind Celestia, Luna and Cadance later back in Ponyville. This story explores what might have happened during that time gap, and especially how Discord's first contact with the princesses following his betrayal might have gone (spoiler: it's a teeny bit tense ).

Also explored is one random potential theory for Discord's unexpected compulsion to give Celestia flowers and wink at her in the middle of a throne room full of onlooking ponies. This theory happens to involve Cadance and demonstrates once and for all that the magic of love is not to be taken lightly.

The memories of Discord, from the time before his rule. Happy memories, spent with his true love. None other than Princess Celestia herself. Starting from a young age, they were just friends. Up until the point where she was old enough to date him...and ending in Tragedy.

This is the second part of Why Celestia has a rainbow mane. Now, Celestia gets a little payback by telling one of Discord's most embarrassing moment in his history.

Fluttershy hears it. She hears it all the time.

Ponies always talk about Discord--they whisper about him, even when she and her friend are around them. Ugly, they say. They find him ugly! They think he's a beast!

It makes Fluttershy's heart ache. She's afraid their words are hurting Discord--that he may think he's ugly too, because of what they say.

So when she holds an event for pets in need of adoption, and the gossip starts again, can Fluttershy stand up for him?

And what in the world does Discord mean by "You'll figure it out"?!?

A lot of time has passed since the last time Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends have had to overtake evil. Without any threats, it's finally time to settle down.

As the ponies go about their lives, Twilight can't help but notice that things are changing. Young ones are growing, long-time goals are being fulfilled, and some ponies are starting to see each other in a new light. Twilight finds herself adjusting to these changes quietly and alone... or she would be alone, were it not for a certain sun-emblazoned book. Twilight is soon to find herself going through the motions as well.

This happens between Rainbow Rocks and Friendship games. Human Twilight (Or Science Twilight, whichever you prefer) would have add a whole layer of awkward.
Annual 2013 “The Fall of Sunset Shimmer” is also cannon to this but I cover all you need to know to follow the story in the prolog.

After the events of "Magic Duel", Trixie abandons Ponyville after all the trouble she caused, afraid of what will happen if she were to stay. During her long travel, she stops at a diner to get some food, but this decision will affect Trixie much more than she expects.

But when something goes wrong with casting, Twilight finds herself turned into a Draconequus and unable to control her new chaos magic. If she ever wants to be a pony again, there is only one who can help her learn to control her new magic.

Of course, learning from Discord was never going to be simple. And after a while, being a draconequus doesn't seem so bad anyway....
