The Discordian Era is a dystopia ruled by the whims of its tyrant master. Caughlin Mare, resigned to a life of research in captivity underground, only wants to make life more bearable for the ponies above. When the sole surviving rebel group, the Order of Order, comes calling, an opportunity unlike any other is offered. Yet, there is more to the group than meets the eye, and she finds herself flung into an entirely new world: of advanced magic and technology, of adventure, of manipulation, of hope and betrayal - of what it means to love and hate.

An origins story featuring Derpy, Discord, and magitech, among other things. Accurate, or will strive to be, up until Season 3. Edited, fleshed out, and generally touched up to be cooler by one-fifth since its EqD feature.

Everypony knows the stories of Twilight Sparkle's adventures with the Bearers of the Elements of Harmony. Their heroism in cleansing Princess Luna of the Nightmare, their courage in facing Discord and his anarchy, their resolve to help Ponyville face its many disasters. What everypony doesn't know is that none of those stories ever happened.

This is Big Macintosh's story. And it is true.

The streets are grey. The ponies are like drones. Any form of traitorous thoughts is banned, and will not be forgiven.
Twilight has long since accepted these rules, until one day when a mysterious stranger appears and promises to show her the biggest secret in Equestria.

Celestia has finally found her eternal partner in love. Twilight Sparkle, Element of Magic, savior of Equestria, and co-ruler of the nation. Celestia feels nothing but pride and love for her student, friend, and lover. However, a secret remains hidden in her heart, hidden from herself. Why did she choose Twilight, of all ponies, to be her student?

Unfortunately for her, Discord knows the answer all too well.

In the present Republic of Equestria, no one remembers them as anything more than legends and old pony tales. Save for one shy filly who fell from the sky one fine summer's day.

What if, in an alternate, magicless world, Twilight was a delusional hobo, imagining her magical adventures?

Twilight is a vagrant, living on the streets of a bleak city, but she doesn't let it bother her. Unfortunately, that's because she's not fully aware of her surroundings. This leads to some rather unusual and uncomfortable conversations with others.

Twilight makes an epic adventure from Canterlot (a spot under a random bridge) to Ponyville (a city park) at the request of Princess Celestia (a police officer) to make some friends.

In this world, there is no magic, no unicorns, and no pegasi except in Twilight's mind and in folklore; every pony is an earth pony. The story is, perhaps unadvisedly, played mostly straight.

...or, the season 3 finale, if it had been written by Joss Whedon, only partly in the style of Cormac McCarthy but with more grammar and punctuation.

This is a sad story with no character development and nothing much to say. You should probably read one of my other stories instead. If you read it, read it with dark text on a white background; explanatory spoilers are in white text.
