During her time-twisting battle with Starlight Glimmer, Twilight finds herself in an Equestria ruled by a tyrant alicorn that calls herself the Queen of Equestria. In this world, Twilight's friends are gone and beyond her aid, and Equestria's citizens live in fear of their ruler's wrath should they anger her.
But no one has ever seen the pony who suffers the most in this world.

One day, I get a visit from the local Princess. Seems like Twilight wants me to help someone with their little snowpony. Can't be difficult. I mean, it's not the same as writing, right?
Coverart is of Snowball.
Imagine my surprise when Moondancer told me that she'd discovered a way to access your fanfictions. A scholar like her should have been thrilled, but she said that she quickly became disillusioned. Most of your stories aren't that great.
Like the dummy I am, I offered to look them over, do some reviewing, commenting, and generally offer tips on how to improve. They can't be that bad, right?
Oh how naive I was! Yes, yes they can.
I had no idea about the sheer immensity of this task, and as if that wasn't bad enough, each and every one of your stories finds a new and unique way of being awful. I've just about reached my breaking point, and Celestia help me if I get there. I doubt that even Death herself could stand to read your fanfiction!
This was born from a severe lack of sleep while I was trying to write a review. It was out of place as a part of that work, so I removed it, revised it, and greatly expanded it until could stand on its own. The original version was only 432 words.
By the way, I'm using the collective, plural form of the pronouns 'you' and 'your' here. I'm not addressing the reader directly, but rather the fandom in general.
For a long time, Twilight could feel it; a sense of emptiness she couldn't explain. Now that she's a princess, that feeling is stronger than ever. She finally decides to bring the matter up with Celestia. In response, Celestia gives her an old book.
The contents of that book will change her perspective of the world... and her beloved mentor. Just accepting the truth is a challenge. And after that?
She has to make a decision.

Rarity has been stressed lately, run ragged by tall orders and uncivil customers. However, another part of her considers a more fatal method of easing her burden.
The Dark tag and Teen rating are for the subject matter: suicide.

[Queen of Queens is now an audiobook! Part 1, part 2.]
Our kind has it that the life of a queen is the happiest, for they are blessed with the shortest time in this world. A mighty queen will be remembered for eternity, forever residing in the hearts of her people. The greatest tragedy a queen can suffer is to be forgotten – to be stricken from history.
