Long before the reign of the Princesses, life is hard for ponies. A single decision can change, end, or begin a whole new life.

On the night of her child's birth, one pegasus makes the fateful choice to abandon her home for the sake of love, and faces the longest night of her life as the consequences race to meet her below the clouds.

This oneshot fic was entered in the January Writeoff of The Writeoff Association and won third place.

Twilight Sparkle has finally perfected a device allowing ponies to speak to each other over great distances. Unfortunately, the first call she receives is from Pinkie. Things go downhill from there.

So there I was in the forest, looking everywhere for love to eat. Then my eyes fell upon a cute little bug, maybe this little guy could help feed me.

The discovery of a tiny extraterrestrial object within our own solar system makes a strangely equine alien race aware that the Earth is inhabited by an intelligent species, and they're on their way to come visit.

But since space is a really, really, really big place, they aren't going to get here for about a thousand years. They do have FTL communication, though, so while we wait maybe we'd like to be pen pals...

This is the story of a very ordinary pony's extraordinary day. Carrot Top and Derpy are good friends indeed, and sometimes friendship can lead to wonderful surprises. It can also lead to arguments, frustration, and general grumpiness, of course, and this story has all of those things as well. But mostly, this is a story about the day Carrot Top learned how to fly.
