What Spike saw in the doorway of King Sombra's crystal palace hasn't left his mind. The fear of Twilight abandoning him haunts him through recurrent nightmares. Anxiety taunts him when he's at his most vulnerable, reminding him of all his failures, all his inadequacies, all his wounds.

One night, this fear and anxiety manifests itself in a full-blown nightmare, dragging Spike face-to-face with his greatest fear. What if Twilight never needed Spike in the first place?

Takes place right after the Season Three opener (before Episode Three).

Even more surprising in the revelation of Twilight's feelings for her. Along with some other... quite questionable subjects.

Checkpoint life is both dull and interesting. While the process is repetitive, the ponies going through the checkpoint vary very differently. It is also interesting to be in a newly-formed kingdom.

When the combined forces of the Changelings, Diamond Dogs, and Griffins successfully conquer Equestria, Rainbow Dash, Spike, and a band of survivors find themselves fighting for survival. Their mission: to retake their nation from the invaders who killed their friends and destroyed all they know.

With the Ascension of Twilight Sparkle to an Alicorn, the balance within the Element Bearers has been broken. Now, they cannot be used. Twilight receives a new task, make it so the Elements can be used once again.

While attempting this task, a spell goes wrong, and Twilight finds herself in the past, and in the middle of a civil war between the two Princesses. Now, she must learn the truth behind the Elements of Harmony, and why neither her mentor, nor her sister can wield them.

After learning some shocking news about how long she's going to live now that she's an Alicorn (namely, forever), Twilight summons her friends to let them know that their time together is limited. However, their reactions to this information are not quite what she was expecting...

So Rainbow Dash decided to share the story of how she died saving Fluttershy's life. Her friends decided to humor her and listen along. As they hear the story they keep wondering why Rainbow Dash insists she has died. The ending tells them everything.
