A sudden blackout of the northern sky of Equestria has it's home front and other nations into deep turmoil. The eclipse that lasted for an entire two years, led many to go hungry and unemployed. Thousands lost their homes and resorted to petty crimes to keep food in their love one's mouth.
The greatest depression in Equestrian history has unfolded by one infamous 'Magical Remixers' interfered with the magic of the astronimy, which has stunned even the astronomical scientists, and caused the moon to over-collied with the sun; causing darkness and a ultraviolet ray at the sun.
Soon, the petty thefts became grand larceny. The guards were to desperate to deny bribes, and subsequently, crime went up.
Made it dangerous to roam the streets.
Five thousand families of ponies were killed, starved, or committed suicide.
Until the encryption spell wore off, and Celestia spiraled back into power. No longer accepting the luxury of privacy, as all trust for her subjects dissipated.
She enforced the scientists to create something new, something out of the hands of magical remixers.
Technology.

Even better, CCToS. Celestial Communication Transmitter of Surveillance. The watchful eye of the recently crowned Queen of Equestria, whom no longer will let her subjects die any further due to crime or economic depression.
At the cost of our privacy and trust.
As a bonus, CCToS controls every stop light, camera, access boxes, you name it.

Some of us, don't enjoy the idea of protection over liberty. Yet, we are not able to fight against the growing power of CCToS.
This isn't Monarchy, it's Tyranny, and it isn't working, we need a form of Democracy to make the ponies voice heard. However, we won't get that if DedSec doesn't fight fire with fire. Yet, they need to be smarter, Fight fire with water. However, with the magical remixers unable to alter any sort of technology, it makes it more difficult for them to do that.

And then, someone figured out how to break into CCToS and make the breach untraceable. It took years of development, but it paid off in the long run. Coined the term 'hackers', DedSec went from rockslinging caveponies to surpassed the entrances of CCToS. However, Queen Celestia is smarter than them and encrypted and heavily fortified the network access boxes.

But that doesn't mean it's unreachable.

That digital civil war doesn't interest me.

The dimensions are colliding, everything I've done previously are going into this world, as if I had done them here.

I thought I found solace, but I found a haunting reminder of what was.
One thing is cetain though.
Anything can be solved with a tactacle baton to the k ee

*Chapter one and two have been edited to better suit the feedback given within the comments. The overall plot has remained the same.*

I've always liked change. It gives curiosity a chance to experience new and exhilarating ways to retry aspects in life. But when it comes to the point where physical or mental trauma are caused by the change, I draw an unswayable line. The very idea of pain from such a productive source shakes me to my very core, but I get through it. I've always gotten through it in the end and returned with a righteous determination, so what would prevent me from doing so now?

Huge thanks once again to apuppy120 for editing and currently being drawn cover art.

This story is a sequel to MLA: Perihelion

It's been a handful of years since Twilight came into her own as a Princess of Equestria, a few years spent in peace and harmony without so much as an angry spirit or clandestine invasion to take away from the tranquility of Equestrian life. Unprecedented developments in the technological and thaumaturgical sciences seem to be preparation for something, though nopony realizes what that something might be.

Nopony except the Princesses, who have not failed to see the signs of impending disaster that began with the mass kidnappings just following the Summer Sun Celebration. When all their preparations are turned upside down, can an alliance with the mysterious Precursors turn the tides of the most devastating war in Equestrian history, while there is still anything left to save? Enemies and allies appear in the most unlikely of places, and friendship with a dying elder race can be more dangerous than an invasion of Dragons and Changelings. What is a pony willing to give in defense of harmony? What are they willing to sacrifice?

This story now has a companion piece, The Sunset Campaign! This story is designed to bring Harmony Defended more into line with the three-story version of My Little Apprentice. If you read Apogee and Perihelion, you may want to read that as well!

This story was written prior to season five, and as such any events which transpire therein may or may not be treated as canonical. All events up to and including "Twilight's Kingdom" are treated as having occurred, however.

A huge thanks to my Alpha Readers! Thanks to these wonderful people, new chapters aren't nearly so riddled with mistakes and errors as they used to be. Thanks to Sparktail, TwoBit, Withered Pyre, and Zutcha. Zutcha of course deserves double the love, since he's also the artist of the cover and any other fantastic art that finds its way into the story.

Shining Armor is Captain of the Royal Guard, and has no time for making friends, unlike his social butterfly sister. But when the Mare in the Moon threatens to return to the world, making friends may be his only hope to save Equestria.

Orphaned as a filly, a young pegasus named Kaviyayu is raised by an adoptive Earth pony family in a secluded, peaceful village. When a strange unicorn drops by the village, Kaviyayu and the other foals are captivated by her tales of the world, as well as her various spells and illusions for their amusement. But there's something about the way she doesn't speak of her own family... how she never removes her traveller's cloak... how she seems to take a very strong interest in Kaviyayu...

Who is this mysterious mare, what does she seek, and just what is so special about that pendant she wears?

This is the tale of how a seemingly ordinary filly rose to become both a princess and a beacon of love to ponies all over Equestria. Based on the back-story of Princess Cadance, as given by G. M. Berrow's pony novella, Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell. Also loosely inspired by symphonic metal band Nightwish's sixth studio album, Dark Passion Play.
