Lightning Dust suffers a life changing eye injury during a solo attempt to perform a Sonic Rainboom, leaving her unable to see straight. One kind gray mare hopes to help her overcome this new impairment and get back on track.

Seven months since she quit the academy, Lightning Dust has hit rock bottom. Her dreams are gone. Her heroes hate her. She's got no job and spends her days drinking. Yet sometimes, life always gives us another shot...

The events of the Wonderbolt Academy have played out and Rainbow Dash is in the stretch to achieving her dream but still has a hard time getting a certain erstwhile friend out of her mind. After taking a few minutes to contemplate things, she decides that she's been given enough second chances in her life to see to it that somepony else gets one as well.

Rated Teen for some language later on, though nothing extremely vulgar.

"If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago, I could be flying up there right now. With her, with them, the Wonderbolts. But... would I be better off for it?"

After being expelled from the Wonderbolts Academy, Lightning Dust traveled around Equestria in search of herself. Then, many years later, after a hard day of working she went to a bar and ran into the last pony she ever expected to meet again.

Every day for a year Starlight Glimmer has visited Cozy Glow in Tartarus in an attempt to get through to her, to try to understand why she did what she did. Every Day Cozy has refused help by telling more lies and fake stories about her past. But Starlight knows from experience that no one is beyond saving, so she decides to put everything on the line to help Cozy Glow, whether the stubborn filly wants it or not!

It's been thirty years since Princess Twilight's coronation. Equestria, now with an abundance of heroes, has pretty much become as peaceful as its ever been—and with Luster Dawn coming to full grips with the magic of friendship, Twilight can finally relax.

At least, she would if it weren't for Cozy Glow escaping from her prison every other day.

It's been a few weeks since Starlight Glimmer nearly destroyed all of time and space, and she hasn't gone outside since. At least, not until she receives an invitation from Princess Celestia to meet for tea. This can't be good.

When Twilight Sparkle prepares to turn in for the night, she is approached by an intoxicated Starlight Glimmer. Unable to stand or form complete sentences, the drunken unicorn attempts to profess her love for the princess of friendship.

Cozy Glow has a problem, it's her conscience it's been bugging her for a while and it's about time she got rid of it. With this last hurtle out of the way all she has to do is take over Equestria. yeah so what if she's split herself in two not her problem anymore, right? Well this new Cozy doesn't know why but now she's on her own in a world that hates and despises her.

Tirek and Chrysalis are waiting so there's no time to deal with her unwanted twin, time to have in her words "to much fun".

Meanwhile Twilight deals with her responsibilities of ruling Equestria and Starlight and Trixie set out on a world wide Magic tour. Unbeknownst to them a part of Cozy Glow remains free in a new body and has yet to sort out her lot in life.

There are several characteristics that most heroes have. They come from underdog positions. They fight not for themselves, but for others. They believe in unity and fairness.

There are several characteristics that most villains have. They have all the cards. They destroy what others have built. They take pride in vanquishing their enemies.

Starlight Glimmer was supposed to be the hero. Twilight Sparkle was supposed to be the villain.

And yet, sitting in the Princess' guest room, Starlight wonders if she was wrong.
