All Luna wanted to do was spend time with her son. Being Princess of Equestria, she has very little time to do so, and the only way she can is through brief openings. She's finally found one: at the supermarket!

If only the demon sent by the IRS didn't ruin her day.

The Luna in this story is completely AU to fit the universe. In short: she never went to the moon for 1,000 years and is much more upbeat than her canon self. Hints of canon Luna will be sprinkled throughout because I still have to address the change in character.

After another long day studying friendship, the Young Six decide to have a chat about exchanging appendages and abilities. Smolder was adamant about keeping hers and not changing anything about being a dragon. Spike, hearing their conversation, decides to show Smolder what it's like to have something over than claws.

Hints of Twilight and Sunset at the end, but I added the tags just in case.

“We need like, magically entwined rings. Six of them. Forged together. Enchanted together. Together forever. Like we’re going to be. And I don’t think that there’s anything like that that we know about. So no marriage for now.”

Smolder scratched the back of her neck. “Actually...maybe...I know a spot?”

“You’re kidding,” Gallus said.

“I was holding off on talking about him until it was time to propose,” said Smolder. “He’s an old fart who lives in a cave on the borders of the Dragonlands. His place is kinda camouflaged to non-dragons so the professors don’t really know about it and neither do your species’ governments.”

“Well, I know what we’re doing today,” Ocellus said. "Committing crime for the sake of my five fiancees. You know, this is one of the few things that I think both Chrysalis and Thorax would be proud of me for."

You know the story of Twilight Sparkle. Celestia's unicorn apprentice gets sent to Ponyville, bumps into five friends, recovers the Elements of Harmony, releases the princess's younger sister from a dark enchantment, learns to embody the magic of friendship.

Though, what would it look like if the story wasn't about the original Elements, but their siblings? How would the story of Spike T. Dragon look if he was in his sister's place? If Spike was sent to Ponyville, met some friends, recovered the elements, and saved the day?

Sparkles to Flames is a re-exploration of MLP:FiM with the Mane 6, as well as a couple others, replaced with their siblings or characters close enough to be considered family. It's also a way to explore or expand on some aspects of the show that I personally felt somewhat unsatisfied with, such as Spike's seemingly unique fire. It's also an excuse for me to rewatch the show as a whole. Criticism and corrections are welcome.

An alternate version of Chapter 8 of "A Secret Admirer 3" in which Starlight, Smolder, Ember, Thorax, and a bonus fifth member beat up Chrysalis for rubbing Spike's death in their faces one time too many.

The villains seem to finally have the heroes in their sights. It seems that the Legion of Doom will come out on top. Until Spike makes a split-second decision to save his friends and home, but it comes with a hefty price. Now Twilight and her friends must find a way to cope with in the wake of this tragedy.
