Have you ever heard of a mare named Faust? She's an Alicorn, just like the Princesses, but not a princess herself. Some say she's a queen, some say she's their mother. The truth, well... she's really overworked. And with her duty as The Equestrian Archivist she has a pretty demanding job. But what happens when this overworked alicorn decides that she wants to take a vacation in Ponyville? Furthermore, what'll happen when she skips out on her job to take that vacation?

(My first story! A different take on Fausticorn, I've seen her given a general persona that just doesn't seem like what I saw in the original art. So here's my idea of what she might be like. Tags will be added as the story continues.)

Hearth's Warming is a time for friends and family to come together, celebrate harmony, and welcome the new year. Nyx is looking forward to just this as she rides the train to Canterlot with Spike and Twilight. She's going to meet her extended family for the first time and wants nothing more than to make a good impression. Yet, the sheen of the holidays can't hide the trouble caused by meddling grandparents, relentless reporters, and a paranoid uncle.

Time marches forward in Equestria, and yet the allure of "what if?" remains. Twilight wonders about the "what ifs" as she tries to guide Equestria to a bright and prosperous future. Cadance wonders about the "what ifs" as she sees her daughter growing.

The power of "what if" tempts once again, but are the little ponies really ready for the answers?

Celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Past Sins! Thank you all so much for letting me and my stories be part of the community!

Her story is known, her defeat & destruction, and Princess Luna's happy ending...
Though, It in fact was not the end, just the beginning for Nightmare. As those that don't perish, often grow. Whether it's for good or ill is dependent upon the circumstances. These particular circumstances resulted in her becoming a complete pony of her own. Ever thankful of the new friend that gifted her that which she was missing, she persevered.
Into the future that she had built, the ponies that she brought into the world, the new family she made, and eventually the 'empire' (collection of colonies really) that her ponies forged amongst the stars. Far far from Equus.

However, with such growth comes longing. Ponies have an inherent desire to see their families, old and new. Now that she is one, the desire to really know them and love them has long awakened.

'Since Mother and Auntie are alicorns, they must still be alive out there...somewhere?'

With so much that she needs to apologize for, so much to say, so much to know... the day she can see them again just cannot come soon enough. However, it's been more than 9 centuries now, that they thought she was only a thing, and destroyed at that.
Her wait is at an end, though there are always bumps in the road of life.

Though this story is set upon Earth, there are only ponies there now. The world 'building'(unwritten prequel) is a slightly apocalyptic one. Which could even be considered a bit of Nightmare's penance; to have to helplessly witness the end of a civilization (and side step being swallowed up by), in order for her to get a second chance & a clean slate to make her own future. Not everything was lost of them however. After all, where would the idea's of advanced technologies have come from otherwise?
Prequel here: The Early Days

This story takes place many centuries after, in better days.
Part 1; is the lead up to the reunion, and world building. The other princesses do not yet appear (tags adjusted). Also re-rated teen due to married couples (slight comedic romance)

When she was birthed with horn and wings she was thought to be a pegacorn, a rare and blessed blending of the tribes, whose long life and power brought wealth and stature.

Then the guards came, seeking the first alicorn born in over a thousand years.

Falling into a volcano trying to impress people isn't very fun, and while it was quite hot for a very long time, eventually I actually started to feel a tad chilly, after a while though I blacked out, and woke up in a burning field, as a horse no less.

This is the story of an alternate Equestria set a little over 1,000 years after Friendship is Magic, where the order of the Alicorn Princesses was overthrown and an endless, bitter winter fell across the land. Pony society lives on in protective bubbles of magic, under the oppressive rule of the last alicorn - Queen Flurry Heart, also known as Nightmare Winter.

In the farming town of Ponyville, Prism Star, a young magic student and the secret heir of Princess Celestia, studies for her exams - completely unaware of the adventure that awaits her. Meanwhile, in Manehattan's industrial heart, teenage con pony Sour Apple cares for the orphaned heir to Luna, Midnight Shine, making hard choices that will set both colts on a collision course with destiny.

Along with the changeling Shimmerwing, the dragon Talon, and pegasus rock star Southern Storm, these ponies find themselves on a quest to find the lost Elements of Harmony, defeat the corrupt queen Nightmare Winter, and save Equestria.

• Chapter I: A Day in Ponyville - Magic student Prism Star studies for her exam with the help of dorm prefect Shimmer, and Prism's father reveals the secret history of Equestria.
• Interlude: A Dream of Blizzards - Midnight Shine uses his ability to dreamwalk, but fails to fix his adoptive brother's nightmare. The impoverished colts strengthen their bond.
• Chapter II: An Endless Sky - Sour Apple is invited to join a dangerous heist and meets the young dragoness Talon. Midnight Shine is captured by the secret police, only to find a mysterious savior who unlocks his hidden potential.
• Chapter III: The Last Friendship Quest - Prism Star's exam is canceled as city shields fail across Equestria. Twilight Sparkle's map table calls Prism Star and Shimmer on a Friendship Quest.
• Chapter IV: The Protector's Oath - In the aftermath of the Shieldfall, Prism Star learns a shocking truth about Shimmer. Shimmer formally becomes Prism Star's Protector. An Element of Harmony is revealed.
• Chapter V: Five Tickets to Paradise - Midnight suffers from a mysterious illness en route to Las Pegasus, while Sour Apple and Talon pass the time by recounting the events of the Shieldfall from their perspective. Prism Star sees a terrifying vision.
• Chapter VI: A Storm of Generosity - The inheritors arrive in Las Pegasus and are aided by Southern Storm. Shimmerwing is unable to shape-shift. Sour Apple and Talon spar over the Element of Loyalty, and Talon discusses it with Southern Storm.
• Chapter VII: The House of Harmony - The inheritors connect with the Order of Harmony in Las Pegasus. Prism Star and Midnight Shine begin their studies in magic and Prism earns her cutie mark.
• Interlude: Journal of the Descendants - Inspired by Twilight Sparkle's Journal of Friendship, Prism Star convinces her friends to keep a journal of their time in Las Pegasus.
• Chapter VIII: To Raise the Sun - Peregrine Dive calls the Order of Harmony into a conclave to determine the fate of Prism Star and Midnight Shine. Midnight forces Prism to face her destiny. Nightmare Winter learns that Princess Twilight and Princess Luna are moving against her.
• Chapter IX: Honest Apples - While the Conclave is in session, Talon begins seeing a ghost. She recruits Sour Apple to help her find the spectral mare.
• Chapter X: The Elements of Harmony - With the Conclave deadlocked over how to react to Prism Star's newfound power, the inheritors take matters into their own hooves. Prism Star shares her frustrations with Princess Twilight.
• Chapter XI : Princess Prism Star - With the help of her friends, Prism Star reluctantly claims her crown as Princess of the Sun.
• Chapter XII-XIII: The Worst Night Ever - Southern Storm is determined to throw the best Cloudsdale Day party ever before setting out to find the remaining Elements, but Talon still has designs on his love life. Nightmare Winter ruins the night's festivities, and the inheritors lose a treasured friend.

A birthday party. What usually is the happiest day of the year for somepony happens to land on the saddest day for a dragon librarian. But when he learns who the lucky mare is, he can't help but be upset with his sister who was nowhere when their caretaker left them for good as he stood by her bed.
To make matters worse, he has to deal with his niece and the rest of his old friends' grandchildren as life wishes them to live happy and normal lives.
But when the last breath of Kindness fades away; evil will once again be unleashed onto Equestria. It is up to this new group of friends to find the elements within themselves. It's also up to Spike and his Sister to come to terms with one another if any pony wants to keep harmony across the land.

This is most likely not the best way to describe this story but does make a good summary.
I do advise reading Past Sins by Pen Stroke and Batty Gloom before starting this story. It does involve Nyx so, LET THE FLOODGATES OF UNPLEASANTNESS OPEN! HAHAHAHAHA! Cause i expect to get hate for writing this.

After years of learning her new powers and growing into being an Alicorn, Twilight Sparkle has reached maturity. Her loving mentor Celestia feels she is now ready for the ultimate test, to succeed where her sister and herself failed. Celestia reveals the origin of her sister and herself, and tasks Twilight Sparkle to travel across the great sea and take the throne in the land that they were exiled from.

After living through a long alicorn life, Twilight's time finally comes. All of her old friends have passed on, but she still has her daughter Nyx by her side at the end. Before she reunites with everyone else, they share a moment.

Nyx is an original character from Past Sins by Pen Stroke. Credit goes to him for her creation. This is my tribute to her and that legendary story which is one of the most loved on fimfiction.
