This is the story of how Spike got his wings, and became Sweetie Belle's brother-in-law. :) The story is enveloped within another tale of Spike's great-grandson, Uvarovite, and his special somepony, Dusty Amber, coming for a visit, many years later.

Thus, when Twilight discovers a strange magical book in the library basement that provides her with unlimited information in just mere seconds, it's only natural for the studious Unicorn to... grow attached to the book, right?
