    Patreon & Survey Follow Up

First of all, reminder that we have a Patreon you can find at . Apparently a lot of people didn't know we had one so there it is. $5 will remove ads on the site for you. I'll be making the Patreon page more prominent in relevant areas of the site soon to make sure people actually know it exists.

Thanks everyone for filling in the survey last night. We had over 5,000 responses and I did in fact read every single comment left as they were coming in and finished reading them this morning. It seems there are a few features which we would potentially be interested in making premium features (part of the $5+ patreon rewards).

    • Custom emoticons you can upload
    • Custom titles / colours
    • Animated avatars
    • Avatar border frames
    • Extra themes
    • Custom CSS
    • Higher tier patreon rewards that let you “gift” premium?

I was working on a cool 3d project for the site but unfortunately I never really had time to turn it into something useful. Have a screenshot anyway!

AShadowOfCygnus' "Cold Light" [Royal Canterlot Library]

Today's story might offer up some cold comfort.

    Cold Light
[Dark] [Human] [Sad] • 3,209 words
[Note: This story contains sexual themes.]

Even in our darkest moments, the stars shine coldly down — distant and remote, but bright in the blackness. Refuse them, shut them out, and they remain. Let them in, and they may convince you of the warmth in their embrace.

This is not a story about stars.

This is a story about people and ponies, and what they visit on each other in moments of darkness.

SpinelStride's "Rarified Airs" [Royal Canterlot Library]

Take flight into an alternate Equestria in today's story.

    Rarified Airs
[Adventure] [Alternate Universe] • 44,226 words

When the Windigos attacked, the ponies had to find a way to put an end to the distrust and anger that fed the frozen fiends. The unicorns found a way. No more earth ponies, no more pegasi, no more problem.

A thousand years later, Princess Twilight Sparkle thinks that her ancestors may have made a mistake. Fortunately, she knows a way to test her hypothesis. She names that way 'Rainbow Dash.'

Codex Ex Equus' "Changeling Courtship Rituals" [Royal Canterlot Library]

You'll fall in love with today's story before you know it.

    Changeling Courtship Rituals
    [Romance] [Comedy] • 38,574 words

For years, Twilight Sparkle and Queen Chrysalis have been at each other's throats. Both have experienced victory over the other, and both have experienced defeat. Out of all the creatures in Equestria, none despise each other the way the pony Princess and changeling Queen do. They seemed destined to remain locked in battle forever, or at least until one is finally dead at the hooves of the other. The cruel insults, the vicious loathing, and the powerful spells that have passed back and forth between them at each meeting have become the stuff of legend.

Imagine Twilight's surprise when she finds out changelings consider this dating.

    And now they're married.

Site Post » Regarding leaked content · 10:38pm Dec 17th, 2017

Since there has been some confusion on the site message I somewhat hastily put up, I thought I'd post a blog post to explain things a bit better.

As most of you probably know by now, yesterday a lot of confidential information regarding future episodes, seasons, generations, emails, etc was pulled from an FTP server. As with leaked episodes (and in fact, episodes in general or other links to copyrighted content) our policy is to not permit it to be posted. Discussion of the content, however, is acceptable. Infringement of these rules will be dealt with the same way we've dealt with posting of leaked episodes in the past.

These are weird times in the Brony fandom... Weird times.

Dan #3 · Dec 17th, 2017 · · 3 ·

Thank you.

Hasbro/DHX are as leak proof as a screen door on a submarine.

I am depressed because of Gen 4 ending.

This is the biggest leak since pokemon Ultra sun and Ultra moon, I got the leaked versions anyway.

4751390 Let's hope G4 gets a 10th Season. Also, knighty, what about the film?

Comment posted by Damaged deleted Dec 17th, 2017

He said we could discuss it. He just didn't say we could give links to leaked episodes.

4751400 Yeah, I brain farted. Deleted my comment :)

4751390 wait wtf it is? wow.

honestly, season 5 onwards kinda lost the magic for me, so I hope the next gen (hopefully not 20 years away) will rekindle the lost spark.

Hasbro needs someone else to better handle their security

So.... we can’t post fics that are based off of Leaked content? Is that what this means?

would we get a warning if we post leaks or just straight up banned

Only another 100+ days of avoiding spoilers that've spread all over the internet like wildfire to go. Pass the coffee with added stimulant... :pinkiecrazy:

No problem, sweetie~. I have brain farts all the time~.

4751417 Speaking of stimulants!

Phew... I found the site message weird, but I don't follow that close the in-between seasons stuff... Let's hope G5 is at least half of what G4 has been...

In other words, don't post anything until the episode is officially released.

An entire fanfiction repository built to enshrine a single generation of MLP...

Even if the episode is up, you can't post a link to it...

-\textit{Sweetie Belle}

Well... that was surreal, yet somehow simultaneously life-affirming :pinkiesad2:

"Lost its spark"? Have you actually watched the more recent episodes?

I hadn't heard of this. I've been busy... But thanks for warning me about megaspoilers.

I hear Bob Newhart wakes up in bed, and it's the set from his old show. And Suzanne Pleshette walks in and he says "Honey, I had the strangest dream about...ponies..."

I'm happier simply knowing who the villain is this time than I would be if I knew any more than that. I'm not sure if that counts as a spoiler, since if you had two brain cells you'd notice a pattern, but better safe than sorry.

I hope the rest of your day is as pleasant as you are.

They already have concept art for G5. It's basically already in the early stages of development.

Honestly you have to figure this show has to end at some point and while not every story possible has been told I do think the series is running towards the end of what they could do while maintaining quality unless they were to go in a very different direction.

I say this even though there is a fiarly high likelihood that I would not watch a new series of MLP since it would have to have things that drew me to this show despite not being part of the traditional demographic. Heck Pinkie is the vast majority of what I like in this show so they are starting at a disadvantage to begin with.

Thanks for the explanation. I was confused about the message at first but I found out

Hasbro had better have some quality writers lined up for Gen 5. If not, that show’s likely to fail, and they’ll be left without their moneymaker that is Gen 4. I can’t imagine they’d want to ditch everything they’ve built and start from scratch, as they’d be risking losing all the momentum built up with Gen 4. If it were up to me, I’d rather they go the Star Trek/Yu-Gi-Oh! route of setting new shows in the same continuity but featuring all new characters.

We all knew that from the start, but it's comfortable to push the knowledge aside.

What about stuff like stories? I'm concerned about hitting spoilers in story synopses or even title posts.

4751451 Sweet, thanks for letting me know!

4751447 What? My opinion differs from yours? I am so sorry for fostering my own views and will do better to force myself to like it from now on!

Seriously, though, just say "I disagree because [insert slightly hostile but overall constructive reason(s)]." This comment is needlessly confrontational, and I shall disregard any further comments unless they are civil.

4751435 Last time I tried I got until "All Bottled Up" and then couldn't do it anymore, but if you're implying that they're good, then I shall try to watch them once more. But feel free to give some 'must watch' episodes, as I'm all ears.

It's batponies all the way down.

Dude trust me, the show still has several great episodes. Letting a single one suddenly kill off your interest in it doesn't exactly speak highly of a fans genuine respect for the series (especially when that single one is a Starlight episode).

But any, here's a few I'd recommend:

A Royal Problem
The Perfect Pear
Fame and Misfortune
Campfire Tales
Daring Done?
A Health of Information
It Isn't the Mane Thing About You
Marks and Recreation
Uncommon Bond
Shadow Play

The Movie

I highly recommend you check them out. And speaking of someone who's seen the leaks, let's just say this show has far from lost its spark...

Try "The Perfect Pear." It's an episode about Applejack's parents and has William Shatner (who played Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek) doing a voice for one of the characters. It is considered by many bronies as the best episode of season 7 and possibly the entire series.

Pretty sure it's screen door on a battleship, but your version makes more sense.

We’ll always have this site to keep pumping out more gen4 stuff even as gen5 starts up. Right? Most likely scenario this site adds gen4 and gen5 tags or has two versions of the site, one for each gen?

Campfire Tales
Daring Done?

Not these two. The rest I whole heartedly agree with. :twistnerd:

I was honestly never aware of those leaks.

So, this season is the last?

Campfire Tales and Daring Done were a nice way of establishing the Pillars, and gave us more background on Equestria's mythos.

To be honest, I only hate three episodes in the series... this being one of them. None of the trilogy was the least bit interesting to me, and the surrounding narrative with the Crusaders and their sisters was twee beyond all belief, especially the ending. I can appreciate world-building, but I'd expect them to do a much better job of it than they did here. But, each to their own, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I love this show as much as the next twenty-something male (late twenty-something nowadays), but, ugh, I'm not sure I need another season. Still, I hope whatever the writers come up with is dope.
