Applejack and Rarity decided to give it a try. They decided to explore their complicated feelings, even at the risk of upsetting the status quo. They were thankful when everything worked out.

At first.

As time passed and the cracks in their relationship started to become obvious, they realized that even for a couple of hardworking mares like them, sometimes...

It just doesn't work.

Exactly the fix I've been needing, ty for writing this.

I feel like this story did a really good job exploring why Rarity and Applejack can't be a couple. Aside from the fact that their constant arguments with each other would strain their relationship, their work ethics and schedules would make it impossible for them to do anything at all together. They both can't do anything together and never are there for one another. I know people tend to go for them together because of opposites attract, but opposites don't always attract to the right person. I've always believed that if these two were even in a relationship, it wouldn't last long at all (a month is as far as I'd say it would last before it ended). It's honestly one of two main reasons I don't ship these two together. Good story and great way to show how this relationship wouldn't work in the end.

Why isn’t there a tragedy tag?

This is sad, but sweet at the same time. Glad to know they're breaking up on amicable terms, and I do think that maybe down the road they could get back together, but it's not a guarantee. Maybe they just need some time to grow in their friendship before they go back to dating/living together.

Very good work, Runic!

Why isn’t there a tragedy tag?

Because relationships breaking up aren't always tragic. Sometimes it's just the way things go.

If it were a matter of their friendship ultimately being broken beyond any realistic hope of repair under the consequential weight of their character flaws (one or both of them) reaching their worst extremes, maybe it would be a Tragedy (literary sense), but realizing that things haven't been clicking for a while, and talking it out like mature adults, thus resolving it amicably?

Nah, I don't think so.

That said, the "Drama" tag was missing when you initially posted that, if memory serves.
