On what seems like any other day, Sunset Shimmer stumbles upon an older woman that looks shockingly like her. Believing this to be her "human world" counterpart, she tries to connect with the woman, only to find that she has little interest in what Sunset has to say. While that does save Sunset from a few potential issues, it also raises an interesting question:

Why doesn't she care?

Too realistic, got sad

So End of the World. Sunset survives and figures out a way to timejump back, possibly using the spell from 'It's About Time' which can only produce a stable time loop. All she can do is experience one normal day.

Either there's a nuclear winter or some other condition that prevents normal sunsets, or she was dying and only had one day left.

This makes me think of the finale that was supposed to be the end of EQG where Sunset actually meets her human counterpart. It's a shame we never got it.

Damn, man. How did you make me cry?

Man, this one got me thinking. Not necessarily about mlp, but perspectives in general. On the surface, a message about appreciating the finer things in life, before it’s too late. But deeper, it could be about how our reality of life, despite how similar or different we are, is always influenced by perspective, which in turn influence our very being. It was a very interesting albeit different story. 10/10!

Why did I get vibes of the Lutece's from Bioshock Infinite with the way the older Sunset just... appeared and disappeared?

It’s always a fun idea when you have a character meet an alternate/older/younger version of themselves, but when you make them wise and give something to think about? Well, it hits hard. And oof, this one hit hard…

Also, when I heard apathy used, even just briefly, my mind had to go into meme mode.

“Apathy is death.”

Thank you Kotor 2.

I know the story heavily implies that was Sunset from the future, but I can't help but think her being this world's Sunset's real mom who ditched her as a baby and is just checking that she doesn't owe back child support.

Better story than I was expecting going in. The concept seemed to be one that belonged in a considerably longer story, but you managed to make a satisfying one-shot. I especially enjoyed the characterization of both characters in the story and Sunset's thought process. The only meaningful suggestion I could make is that this would have read better if it were in past tense, although using present tense did not wreck anything.

I might check out some of your other works.
