Changeling power-set. Some stories have used other changeling unique powers. Some writers choose to give changelings the ability to create a kind of hardening saliva or tranquillising bite that they use to subdue ponies and create pods/cocoons in which to keep them in stasis. Pods were used in the show to store captured ponies and keep them unconscious. Do changelings in your story also have similar abilities to this? Non-canon to this universe?
One thing I find a little weird is the "Magic Grasp" abilities, specifically it being analogous to a hand. I can understand how a human might use the concept of a hand to help them learn telekinesis, but I cannot see the other normal changelings doing this the same way. Is this a hard limit, or just his own personal perspective of the ability that requires more research to better understand and eventually bypass the hand mentality restriction?

I like how he decides to forgo the whole process of stealing an identity and disguising himself as a pony and instead just goes about in natural form with nopony blinking an eye at it.

If they do that, will they also arrest every Griffon or Minotaur that looks funny? They can't do that.
And another good reason to go around without a disguise is so the ponies won't know he even has the power to transform.
For all they know, he's just a silly-looking bug-man, no shapeshifting around here.
And as long as they don't know that he can shapeshift, he can go around as other persona's to do his dirty work and the Ponies won't have any way to connect the two.

True. Changelings are all about being discrete, so their species won't be widely known and the natural form not recognised. I just like that he choses to take the lawful route despite what the rest of his species usually does, maybe not because he cares much for the law, but at least because its easier to follow easy laws than become outlawed. I don't know that I have read any human-turned-changelings stories which do this yet, not that I have read all that many human-turned-changeling stories in the first place.
An interesting dynamic this chapter.
