An Odd Hermit

Just a simple reader trying to be a writer.

T

Lug wasn't the smartest. He knew that. And he was fine with that. As long as he had a club to swing or a ripper gun to fire, he was content, and there wasn't much thought needed beyond that.

And like many other Ogryn, he was content to serve the Imperium and it's interests until he died.

Until one fateful space skirmish with the forces of chaos, a drop-pod sent him careening through the warp, and soon after, into the Land of Equestria.

A world made up entirely of xenos, most of whom were small, fluffy, and colorful!

Lug likes it here already.

interesting for sure. i actually found the portray in darktide interesing

very interesting, especially how he is non hostile towards them.

eager to see how you contuine

I don't have the words to properly express just how much I'm enjoying this story so far.

With Ogryns being the way they are they don't really hate, they just fight whatever their told to fight. If anything our boy Lug here seems to be a little smarter, but with a big heart to match.

how mean his commissar was

why commissar mean? don't they usually treat them nicely? ):

11451789
Couldn't've explained it better myself!

even with the bone ed chip he seems a bit too smart. also need to cap Scootaloo's name early on in this chapter. also if you havnt seen it, ogryn story on youtube is a pretty good listen

11451861
The Wraithbone Phoenix: Warhammer Crime has an ogryn in is that's also definitely smarter than most bone 'eads.

I have to ask.

Did you possibly watch a YouTube video call Ogryn Story by a one Warrior Tier?

Because some of what you talked about with Lug sounds pretty similar to what the ogryn in the video talked about when it came to his family.

11451789
believe it or not, the Ogryn played in Darktide, where the Cover Art Portrait is from, is actually canonically the smartest in existence due to an Imperium Intelligence Enhancement chip to bring his intellect up from the Ogryn standard of human Infant to something more resembling a human toddler.

Hence the Ogryn played in Darktide being able to speak something resembling coherent sentence fragments.

11452170
That I did! Changed around a few things, but, ultimately Lug is quite similar to the Ogryn in that video. Close with his family, and a good lad.

I'll be sure to credit the video as inspiration.

I love this story so far is he a bonehead he seems well fairly smarter than your average ogyrn

11452233
He might be~ Y'all will simply have to wait n' see.

11452204
Ogryn: Like Momma always said "If there's a bully, it's an Ogryn's job to stop em."

11452307
GOT-DAMN RIGHT! And Mama never lies.

11451796
A mean commissar don’t deserve ogryn. Because they not just big boys, but the BEST big boys.

I want Ogryn to meet Yak.

Imagine the smash. The fun. The petting the fluff.

It will be gloryo—gloryou—it will be funny.

Always had a previous issue with MLPxWH40K stories, mostly because of how grimedark it can get. But Ogryns are the few sparks of light in the imperium and it is all too fitting that one is sent to Equestria for a happier life. Because all Ogryns deserve happiness! :rainbowkiss:

Lug's bone 'ead chip must be acting up again, 'cause Lug is seeing lots of unicorns and rainbows.

...And Lug couldn’t help but smile.

Please don't tell me you'll add Choas incursion in this fic, I really hope all those cute ponies survive it while Lug defends them.

I think that one Ogryn Psyker could be smarter. Being a Psyker does not make you a genius but if I recall they also have that chip and Ogryn's are normally too dumb to have Psykers.

Lug needs a Cragodile Club.

Strange, Id have thought AJ would have a better handle on Lug, unless she still hasnt managed to work out he is more restrictricted than all three CMC on a vendetta against a piece of pastry?

She got a heavy hauler there. thats at lleast something instead of keep pushing.:pinkiesad2:

I like this.

Please continue.

Starting today, I'm gonna slow down and release two chapters a week so that I don't burn out. I've been pumping out these chapters pretty relentlessly.

Happy reading!

11453674
I enjoyed it for sure!

Love how you added how easily one can be befriended.

Rest well, you earned it.

just being friendly

11453684
The ponies are a naturally loving, friendly people! Unlike us, they can form deep connections much faster than we can. Only makes sense that they'd value the big guy at some level.

11453691
Indeed!

I...hope the pm was not unfitting, i just wanted to be clear if you got confused

11453674
Two a week is plenty, heck some stories do one chap a week if even less often. So honestly you are all good in my book, better to take it slow and do it at a pace you can keep than to try and go too fast and end up burnt out.

I'm enjoying this good author.

Given how Lug harvests apples, Id half expected he punched out a Cragodile or a Hydra to break his arm like that, and I suspect the Cockatrice didnt last long as a foot covering? Not enough sole?:trixieshiftright:

Lug hasnt met Spike yet, while the Mane 6 are out of town.:moustache:

11453787
Glad to hear you're enjoying it so far! It's these positive comments that keep this engine trucking, after all.

11453788
Poor guy fell off a Cliff in full bullgryn armor. Frankly, I'm surprised he only broke his left arm and not his entire ribcage considering the weight of that chestplate!

When Applebloom had retreated to her room after being told she could come, she found herself pacing, furious that she hadn’t been taken with her older sister to go find Lug. Applejack and her friends had left an hour ago to go looking for him, and they’ve yet to come back. She stamped her hoof and looked out her window, glaring at the wooded horizon. She wasn’t just going to stay put when her friend was in danger.

i think you meant couldn't
no other errors

great chapter, want to see more Lug.

11453795
Just be careful not to make him too much of a weenie, he is an Ogryn after all. Ogryn are much hardier than you are portraying him to be. Be careful not to nerf him too much, he isn't human, Ogryn come from frighteningly, horrifyingly hostile worlds and they adapted over the tens of thousands of years in isolation.

Other than that, Im loving the story. Keep up the good work.

11453795
Ogryn's hail from high-gravity worlds, they are a lot tougher than you'd expect! Able to tank shots from Bolters, Pull an entire transport ship solo, and even tear apart an Astartes if they can get their hands on them, even those empowered by chaos surprisingly enough.

In terms of physical prowess, an Ogryn could probably have survived that fall without broken bones? Even in Bullgryn armor if I'm being honest.

11453840
Considering it's revealed that he's a psyker and a melee focused one at that I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that the warp energy within him will from now on make him on par with other ogren especially if it's from a lower level planet that hails from when it comes to the many planets that they are born to

Loving the story so far. I can’t wait for more. Great job!

Oof dont start messing with the warp Twilight. You'll draw unwanted eyes from inside the warp. Luckily they are probably distracted by the freeforall going on In the galaxy at large and the most that would come is a few warp beasts attracted to equestria. It's not like the chaos gods are omniciant in the warp.

11453803
Ogryns are in fact hardy, but Lug here is an odd one out of the bunch. He's a sensitive soul who feels a lot more deeply than others of his kin. I'll keep this in mind though! And try to tone down how emotional he is.

Awesome story! Added to my read list. Looking forward to more!

You put him in bullgryn armor so I put him up there with Nork Deddog on terms of intelligence, able to spell his name, count to 3 or if he's lucky 4. Bullgryns are elite ogryn after all and can probably count some of their fingers. The bigger mark to watch is his intelligence levels rather than emotional. I've seen no lore about their emotions being deadened personally but I've also not read any of the books. Plus you can argue for a B.O.N.E. implant which further boosts the intelligence of the particularly smart ogryns. If you really want to look at extreme cases of powerful ogryns I would just look at the Nork Deddog fandom wiki page.

The biggest throw off for me was an ogryn psyker, though after research that appears to be an extremely uncommon but not unheard of thing. There is exactly 1 ogryn psyker in the lore apparently a ogryn woman named Cassia.

While overly intelligent for an ogryn it's your work of fiction and how much of a stickler for the 40k lore you want to be is up to you. Besides with magic all things are possible, he's not in his universe now.
