What about an interspecies couple that changed everything?
Looks like you got a bit of dislike bombing for some reason on this (currently is 50/50 with a lot of the comments here on -4). I'm guessing it was because your story kind of sits between the Teen and Mature ratings so you're getting the wrong audience reading it. There is some irony that the sex makes your sex positive story be taken negatively. If you toned it down slightly you could sneak into the Teen rating to get the right audience, but I think that would kind of miss the point.
As it currently is, it does prove your point nicely.
Still, I liked it and I definitely agree that a bigger story could be made out of this world.
A positive message in multiple senses, and a well-presented one at that. Thank you for it.

That's a very interesting thought. I hadn't realized that being on the edge between two ratings might throw things off. Though toning it up or down would have messed up the story. So I guess I just have to live with it.
And yeah, I think that a lot of people disapprove of sexual stories more when they're packaged as actual stories with emotional awareness, as opposed to pure porn fics that deliberately avoid that awareness. The latter kind of story implicitly portrays sex as "dirty", which sortof promises that sex will stay out of the limelight and not disrupt much of anything. But a story that takes sex seriously raises awkward questions about how we deal with sex in the real world and whether we ought to change some of our norms.
Anyway, the good news is that the rating has changed quite a bit in the past few hours; now it's at about two-thirds positive. There's hope for us yet. 😊

I'm...torn on the idea of "sex-positive". I think it's the inner self-righteous Christian in me screaming about sexual immorality, perversion, etc.
But here's the thing.
Sex can be a genuinely wonderful thing, especially in marriage. That's a fact. And there's really nothing morally wrong if they're all legal, consenting adults. I would have many more objections if they were under 18.
Could I see myself participating like this? No.
Am I okay with other people doing this? I don't think I want to know about anyone's exploits.

Oh, man, I have so much experience with that. Christianity taught me some terrible self-hating things when it came to sex. 😢
Assuming "marriage" means an actual bond of genuine love, understanding, respect and support, then yeah!
If "marriage" just means "legally you're married" regardless of how people actually feel about each other, that's a whole different thing!
But using the first definition, everything is better in the context of a loving relationship. Cooking. Hiking. Karaoke. It's pretty hard to think of exceptions. Even things you prefer to do alone are made better just by knowing that someone somewhere supports you (as Fluttershy supports Dash during the race).
Then I hope the concept becomes more clear to you as you read more of my stories. (I only have two right now but I hope to write more soon.) I don't mean "sex-positive" as a shallow, hollow concept. I mean to explore sex in a way that's positive in the deepest and most meaningful sense.
In this story, Dash has wild sex with strangers. Obviously that's not the same as sex with a loving partner, but the key is that Dash's orgy doesn't come with any sense of self-hatred, shame, objectification, depersonalization, humiliation, disrespect, "turning your feelings off" or anything of the sort. The sex actually supports her relationship with Fluttershy, instead of detracting from it.
Running is an expression of who Dash is (e.g. her energy, her dedication, her love of excitement and competition) and exploring those parts of herself indirectly allows her to more present with Fluttershy. Exploring her interests allows Dash to become more herself (to put it vaguely). And the same is true of wild sex. It's something she enjoys, and she does it in a way that respects her inner self.
Does everybody enjoy wild sex? Of course not. But that's true of every hobby!
Anyway, I hope to explore this more in future stories (some of which may be much longer than this one). Let me know if you read "Comfort"; I think it's a meaningful counterpoint to this story.

You are absolutely right when it comes to "marriage." Not all marriage is made equal: some marry for love, others for status, some for wealth, any reason someone may have. In a perfect world, I think people would marry purely for the mutual love of their partner. While I personally have never experienced a romantic relationship (mostly timidity on my part), I have seen plenty of relationships fall apart due to the love being one-sided, or something else causing trouble.
As for your whole explanation on the "sex-positive" part.... have you read To Be Everfree by any chance?
I read that story earlier this year, and left a comment in there that says something very similar to what you just said.
