It was an abusive relationship. There wasn't really a last straw so much as just something small that she blew up with. I didn't feel like making it something specific.
So, after reading the last stories, I'm assuming Equestria found some way to either prevent the magic build up or figured out how to obtain those crystals?

Up to the first quarter of this chapter I was so confused by Equestria's lack of notoriety. Like bro wasn't there just a war? Humans went through the statue portal to equestria and held a massive ground war against aliens motivated by radical eugenics and the secrets to magic, meanwhile another fleet gets unwillingly kamikaze-d into earth and there's like 60 million casualties off rip, that's pretty fuckin noteworthy don't ya think? Well that's what I get for reading two stories at once that are even tangentially similar
