If only a certain magnificently rainbow-maned pegasus with that sleek, toned body didn't constantly get in the way. Honestly! It's as if Rainbow Dash is trying to ruin Rarity's day. And if that isn't enough, she's pretty sure Rainbow Dash is sleeping around with all of their friends. What's a pony to do when it seems everypony around Rarity is falling for Rainbow Dash's rugged charm except for her?

Wrote this in a couple hours. Sorry for the multitude of errors that are probably in this piece - I'm really too lazy to comb through it right now.
Anyway, I always think it's funny how people tend to assume Rainbow Dash is a lesbian based on absolutely nothing concerning how she acts around females versus males. It always falls to her voice, her rainbow mane, and her athleticism, etc. Not to bash shippers, let me say that right now. I love shipping Rainbow Dash with the mane six. But, I mean, I'm a sucker for romance. I just don't think Rainbow Dash being a lesbian is canon. And it shouldn't be canon. I don't want the show to focus on romance, and I definitely wouldn't want any of the mane six to be paired off in the show. Being gay is fine, I just don't think any of the mane six are. Hell, the only one who seems even remotely aware of the word 'romantic relationship' seems to be Rarity. Let's keep it that way.
This is a little shout out to you silly people that go around asking the writers at cons, "Is Rainbow Dash a fillyfooler?". Because, really, I don't see any legitimate reasons to just go around assuming that. I didn't come to that conclusion and would have been completely oblivious to the idea if other people didn't keep pointing it out.
But, please, keep the shipping fics coming. I live for those. RainbowPie, FlutterDash, TwiDash... Just because they aren't gay, doesn't mean you can't warp reality a little bit with a few taps of a keyboard...
I was kinda mad at first, because there aren't enough RariDash fics, and I was so hoping that they'd get together, but then the last line made me laugh my ass off, so I'm not mad anymore. This was a really well written fic - I'm glad I read it.

Haha, this was awesome! Finally, someone I totally agree with. It never even crossed my mind that Rainbow Dash might be a lesbian (Actually, romantic stuff in mlp, except for Rarity and Spike stuff, never even occurred to me before I ran out of episodes and found the fandom) I really don't see what athleticism has to do with sexual orientation it at all, or voice or hair or anything. Although I do love shipping ponies, especially Rainbow Dash, I would never want to see mane 6 shipping as canon either. Anywho, awesome fic - there does need to be more Raridash in the fandom, but Rarity's complete obliviousness/failure to recognize whats actually going on was hilarious. Thanks for a fun read

I knew I couldn't be the only person baffled by all the Rainbow Dash lesbianism going on (either people against her being a lesbian completely in fics because they think that reflects reality, or people waiting for it to be confirmed as canon)! Or, you know, an animation error (because the show doesn't have enough of those). But that's the great and incredibly fun thing about ships; you can take all the character interactions and interpret them to be something more, regardless of whether anything was meant of the exchange or not, in order to create these imaginative and entertaining stories that have become such a big part of the fandom. If you're into all that sappy romance crap, anyway (which, you know, I am). So, for FlutterDash supporters, it was totally a kiss. For people who are fans of a different ship, it was definitely an animation error (or at least ambiguous animation).

Nice sendup of shipping. And it was a nice touch to have a few of the other girls make the same mistake, but understand it was a mistake, and why.
And I think one of the benefits of shipping not being canon is that it leaves some flexibility for fans who do like it. After all, I've found myself keeping an eye on Twilight/Dash and Twilight/Luna pairings. Hard to have both be canon without somepony's cannon being in some other pony's face.

That'd be an interesting conversation, filled with phrasings that both parties misinterpret as something completely different. It would probably end with Spike going home thinking he just nailed his first date, and Rarity further confirmed in her beliefs that Spike is gay.

Ah yes, Absolute Anonymous. A great, great author. I can definitely see the parallels (and I'm flattered by the comparison). That's a hilarious fic and sports my personal favorite MLP pairing. Perhaps I missed something, but I find this story neither hilarious nor good. In fact, I'm angry. As I read the story, Rarity felt like a self-centered bitch who flip-flopped from wanting Rainbow Dash to hating on her without reason or explanation.
And as an LGBT writer and pony, I felt the way you handled the whole Rarity x Rainbow Dash and RD x Soarin' situation was just plain wrong. It seemed like you wrote this with a vague description of what real issues sexuality-questioning ponies face, and then tossed it out and wrote a jealous bitch wanting to either bang her friend or stop her from getting around.

You probably didn't miss anything; I have faith in your ability to read. That is completely and 100% okay to find this story neither hilarious or good. If everyone liked this story, then there would be something very wrong with the world. Different opinions, differing views, and other points of view are what makes this world go round! I wouldn't recommend getting angry, though. Some random person on the internet writing a quick fanfic that you dislike isn't worth getting angry over. I'd hate to be the cause of a frustrating day for you, after all. Especially over something so silly.
Anyway, I didn't write this as a LGBT fanfic, and it wasn't meant to focus on Rarity struggling with coming out. At its core, this isn't about being gay - that's the whole point. I was poking fun at the people that assume Rainbow Dash is gay in canon. If this story was about Rarity coming to terms with her sexuality, the entire narrative would have went in a whole different direction. It was meant to be over the top, with Rarity filling the voice of people that usually go around saying, "lol rainbow dash is gai she lieks ranebows and has a dewd voice and does sportz so gai!".
Also, since I am not gay, I do not have a very firm grasp on what real issues sexuality-questioning people (or ponies) face. If I were to write a story regarding that, I would probably focus on a more serious tone and discuss it with some of my gay friends on how to best approach the subject (and I have a surprisingly large amount of gay friends - boys and girls). But since that is not what this story was about, I went down a completely different road.
I really appreciate that you took the time to tell me what you disliked about my story, rather than just pressing the thumbs down button and moving on. It means a lot that you took the time to explain what frustrated you, so that I could know and respond to your complaints. I hope that you have a wonderful day, even though you sat through a story on FiMFiction that you didn't like, and that you can take the story with a grain of salt and move on.
