Unity Bringer

Dreams are what you make of them. Either terrible or fantastic.

E

Hearthswarming Eve is a foreign concept to Sombra. From being locked away for a thousand years, to living in an entirely different country from Equestria at some point, he just seems to not quite be getting into the spirit of things. And he isn't sure he entirely likes it. That's what Starlight's there for though!

Too bad Starlight kind of forgot another part of the equation of tonight.

This story is part of Jinglemas 2020 and is a gift to MayhemMoth/EnigmaDoodles, whose art is also being used for the cover art. Hope you don't mind!

I'm probably going to run this through an edit pass sometime tomorrow, but it's 7 in the morning on Christmas Day and I haven't slept yet so I'll sleep for now and come back later to face this and dread what I will face.

I for one look forward to a sequel. I'm glad that Mothy has influenced people to take a shot at this rare-pair. More Sombra is also just hella good. There was a really good moral in this and the word count was nice and thicc. Also, someone as over-the-top as Trixie being thrilled by all the wonders of the holiday season is just too sweet and awesome of an idea. I fully accept this. Cultural differences between Equestria and the Crystal Empire is also good stuff and very under-represented in horse fiction. Even in, y'know, 2020.

You should write more, thude.

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect when I asked for Sombra & Starlight, but I can certainly say I love it!

Trixie made an excellent addition to the story too, creating a conflict that fits all too well, and a resolution that made things sweet. Well, sweet with Sombra anyway, Trixie's still rightfully a little bit bitter but I'm sure they'll be able to patch things up eventually. Maybe at some time in the future they'll all be able to hang out together without trouble. Maybe Sombra can even help with a magic show or two.

Sombra's hesitance for holidays makes me feel for him too, because there is some sort of detachment to holidays as you get older sometimes, and I imagine it's even worse when you missed out on basically the whole existence of them... Okay, so not really comparable, but it was a thought. Sombra's a good friend though, a bit distant but at least he cares enough about others to tell Starlight to fix things with Trixie before the day is up.

All in all, I think I can say this was probably the most exciting gift I received today! Believable conflict, sweet resolution, an interesting new event I'd love to know more about, and Starlight kissed Sombra. Twice. I love them so much. I'm also quite flattered that you used my art for the cover.

Thank you so much! This story was well worth the wait, and I'd love to see that sequel!

This has been my master plan all along, and finally it is coming to fruition.

You diabolical shipping monster! You're spreading a disease across the fandom of love and forgiveness. How dare you write an amazing story!? I love you're interpretation of their character, you deranged maniac! Thank you!

I really look forward for a sequel, from Sombra's point of view. It would make sense that the Crystal Empire deals with certain things different from the rest of Equestria and I love how Sombra was in this story, alongside Starlight and Trixie as well.
It was quite the pleasant reading for me.

Does the name of imperial holiday mean anything? I only found it means 'port' in Greek.

Overall, nice one-shot. It felt as if it could be an actual episode of the show.

Late replies all around but things have been keeping me busy with the Holidays and after. Oh, university.

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you liked it, aaa. And I'll try to write more when I'm inspired!

It was a real blast writing for the pairing you brought me, though at first I was a bit stumped on where to take it. I'm not sure if I'd ever explore it, but Trixie trying to have Sombra help with a magic show sounds hilarious to me. I'm so glad you liked it!

The full holiday is actually called 'Asfalés Limáni', as in safe harbor! Limáni is just a way to say it shortly, as it also means harbor/port. I'm glad that it felt that way, as I was trying to nail that kind of feel but wasn't really sure if I got it down! Thank you!

Enjoyable! Very Enjoyable!! I hope there will be a sequel!

This is cute. I was a big fan of Starlight's dynamic with Sombra here, I found it very sweet.
