Sequels1

E

This story is a sequel to All That We Are

Aurelian and Faye have parted with Aestus and Brayok to wander the globe for a year. Their trek leads them to new and familiar faces, new sights and experiences and a great deal of self reflection for Aurelian as he attempts to move forward not only from his thousands of years of isolation but from the great highs and lows of his long and storied past. The ancient Alicorn begins to see things in a new light and finds something that was right beside him the whole time.

When he tried to move forward not only from thousands of isolated years but also from the heights and heights throughout his long past.

Always good to hear. :pinkiehappy:

I tried to read this. But, I just can't. I struggled to get up to the fight for money, and then, I just got angry and stopped. Truth is, I think Aurelian became a Gary Stu over the course of your series, despite you not wanting him to. The only thing I was left with was a deep sense of loathing. As long as he's a bully who gets away with being a bully because he's so much stronger than everyone, with all other characters rushing to assure him he's great despite what he might have done in the past, and the worst that can happen to him is feeling maybe a little bad for things that have happened so long ago, it affects literally nobody alive, I can't bring myself to care for him in any way other than wanting to punch him, have it hurt, and then walk away so he can think about THAT for a change.

And I'm honestly sorry for how harsh all of this must sound.

I'm not going to spoil anything in the comments for anyone else, but ultimately Aurelian self reflects more and more as they travel and reevaluates his position on things. Ultimately, the one who bears the biggest grudge against him is himself and Faye is the one who truly becomes his anchor and bridge between his old life and this new one; which is something he sees that she has been doing all along. At least you gave it a shot though, thanks for that. 👍

Thing is, a lot of what he says is just wrong, but nobody calls him out on it. For example, he's whining (that's what it sounds like to me, to be frank) about how his powers make him feared. That's simply not true, though. He's not feared because he's powerful, he's feared because he keeps abusing said powers and pushes around those who are weaker than he is, which is everyone these days.

He wouldn't be feared if he didn't eye-beam others' property for HIS OWN MISTAKE, and it doesn't help that he looks down on others again and again and again. And him complaining about how other people think they're above consequences is laughable, but again, nobody tells him off. So I'm left screaming at the text for that pompous, self-absorbed jackass to just SHUT UP already. How can I care for him feeling bad about the past? I don't know his past. I do know he should be feeling bad for things's he's doing NOW, but he doesn't, and neither does anybody else. Everyone is ignoring the conflict right in their faces. And having said that, now I wonder if Aurelian keeps obsessing over his evil-dark past because that allows him to ignore his present.

Part of me still wishes he get hit with the Elements of Harmony. I think he needs to be knocked down. His navel-gazing isn't leading anywhere. He's not as smart as he or others think, even if they treat him like a genius sage. He needs to feel vulnerable, to be humbled. If he only ever experiences "negatives" under his own total control, he won't grow in a way I believe is actually meaningful.

Lastly... thank you, for taking the rantings of a bitter jerk like me with such grace and openness.

from what i remember about him, he was and still is a bad person. He say it serve no purpose to pursue power and control over others and clearly he learned that from experience, but he didn't change he just realized the meaningless nature of such pursuit and that he did bad stuff but when he did he chose to wait out the end of time and die, not change himself. From what we know, him and the other are primal forces of nature in their very concepts and i wonder if they can even changes, that they didn't was the reason they were sealed before after all.

I see and like the character development and I'm glad he's had his epiphany regarding Faye. Thanks for a welcome update to this series.

This story is spectacular. Yes it is shorter than the previous one but it is good to see Aurelian finally see that Faye loves him after 9,000 years. Now for one big question, if they ever got that close, could they have a male Alicorn child and a Grand Phoenix child?

Thank you, I'm glad the continuation holds up for you. The future stories will all be shorter, focusing on individual instances like this story did, but will keep moving the overall narrative forward. As for a child? Can't really say I suppose; I guess, like Faye and Aurelian themselves, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

I suppose I'd just like to see another male Alicorn and another Grand Phoenix. I am looking forward to seeing how things go between Aruelian and Faye....and stories centered around Aestus and Brayock will make for great reads too.

GOD I love Faye.
