I enjoy reading and writing cute ponies. If my works brighten up your day, even better.

Alcohol can do all kinds of funny things to a pony. It can give courage, make you crazy talkative, or even super quiet. It can also lead to accidents, such as crashing into your fillyfriend’s backyard.
Friday night is a time of fun and drinking for many in the Ponyville weather team. When some surprise faces show up for drinks, will Rainbow Dash’s resolve to cut back on her drinking hold firm?

Set pre-Rainbow Dash joining the Wonderbolts.

They were spooning and she was big spoon.

That whole short sequence of only a few sentences made me die laughing. Also the whole talk between Dash and Shy about her reliance on alcohol went far enough to get a glimpse of their being issues in the relationship.

“Sure, this loverly pegasus taught me how to cook for the bottomless pit I call my husband.” Spitfire accepted the drink and drew a long drought. She placed the mug down with a relaxed sigh.

I see that reference to a current story. That was both unexpected and kind of endearing coming from Spitfire.

Also having that switch from nice to assertive Fluttershy was needed cause from what it felt like was that Shy had been doing this for a while and at least wants it to stop. Alcoholism can damage relations really bad especially since Dash seems to see the drinking as an overall net positive- I get to hand out with work buddies and relax. It’s social drinking masking probable alcohol addiction. Fluttershy sees the negatives of it and while she tolerates the cute Dash, she keeps mentioning how she doesn’t like the smell of alcohol on Dash’s breath or the fact that she gets woken at weird hours in the weekend just to care for an inebriated marefriend and probably has had to fix all the stuff Dash has broken which costs actual money on top of caring for her animals. Hope there’s an AA group Dash could go to.

On the questions at the end/ I knew it was Luna immediately since she speaks in a more archaic fashion- and I’d say she’d most likely win in my opinion due to the probable fact that she is an alicorn and they probably hold their liquor better and that It was probably safer to drink alcohol than water in past Equestria which built up her tolerance.

I think Dash would cut down on her drinking for Fluttershy though that probably would take an intervention or two to work. And I think Dash would probably drink less if the Wonderbolts came to town again cause they sometimes seem to tease ponies about funny past stories and the time Dash was marched out of the bar might tune into this way more elaborate story where the jokes and slight embarrassment from her heroes might make Dash rethink her problems.

To answer your questions:
Yes
Luna
No.

I don't feel like Rainbow Dash is an alcoholic, nor did you really portray her as one. But she certainly has her canon flaws of lacking impulse control. And she doesn't really think of the future. So her first instinct is to drink and party with the ponies she's with. Particularly when those ponies are the Wonderbolts.

But Fluttershy could get Rainbow Dash to restrain her drinking. By showing up, like she did at the end of this story. She's the voice of reason to actually put the breaks on for Rainbow Dash.

I like the whole "Dashie ain't a drunkard per se, she's just easily goaded by her peers" thing portrayed here. It really fits with how Flutters is the metaphorical brake that the speed demon really couldn't not need at that moment
