Another thing is that they should be able to be in the shoes of both sides in the battles.
For example, they can learn both offense and defense with D-Day. Sorry, I'm not good at "example", but you get the idea.
Battle of Stalingrad is a must because of the grueling urban/city series of skirmishes.
Battle of Britain to train Air Force, I suppose? I'm pretty sure with their enchanted rifles and melee weapons along with intensive training, they can take each other and Fighter crafts down. Hell, even boarding action against bombers in the air if needed.
Battle of Kursk when they do get around to make Mechanized Armored Fighting Vehicles.
A large variety of sea battles for the Navy. No need to get really historical on them.
Though, battle of Midway is interesting, same as the various skirmishes on the Atlantic oceans (That episode Rarity in Manhatten already shown that they can build relatively modern luxury cruise ships. That's why I suggest WWII and more recent sea battles).
Pearl Harbor. Learn to surprise attack your oponent and how to react when you are the one being surprise attacked.
D-Day. Grueling and costly beach landing. And a sort-of last stand for the troops defending the beach.
Battle of Dien Bien Phu. Jungle and hills and nearly a ton of explosive under A-1 hill and shitz. Learn how to assault well defended bases and defending said bases in the humid tropical and dense jungle environment.
That's all I have at the moment.
TL;DR:
Various battles during the Cold War era.
Various battles during the World War era.
And Various battles during the Roman-Greeco and Medieval time too, I guess. Along with Napoleonic era for some historical context in how humanity once wage wars and the advancements in the Art of War.
Some battles with fantasy and magical elements depicted in legends and history would also work, considering that they DO have magic and magical beasts here.
Though, if you really want to rack up the pain, various battles against Chaos Daemons' Forces by the Imperium of Man...Ok, this is a little bit sadistic...That said, if they can handle THAT, then they can handle Discord and Tirek just fine, no sweat.
For God-Empresses of Ponykind! "Cleanse" the Daemons!
"You're hit, you're bleeding, man."
"I aint got time to bleed."
"Huh, ok. You got time to duck?"
Gallipoli.
The Iwo Jima campaign to show what happens with a dug in enemy and the battle of midway to show what a navel and Air Force can do
Slicer Jen was a strange name that was bothering me for a few chapters... Now I kinda want to hit you...
7915086 The character was submitted, I didn't make the name.
Okinawa to show how desperate the enemy can become and how to deal with an enemy who is dug in
7915086 you know what is even funnier? I made the name 20 years ago as a sci fi hacker character for a story i was writing, been using it as a game handle ever since. When bobby asked for extras it hit me that the name could have a dual pronunciation, purely by accident.
I'm good, but I'm not that good.
Battle of the bulge, winter woodland combat and how to maintain hope.
why does he miss his old rifle? that thing counts as the worst modern rifle and some even call it her majesties junk gun
El alamein - Desert combat as they push up alongside Crusaders and Matila tanks.
Mons - Defending the bridge crossing the river until they get overrun by the Germans
massacre of kasserine pass that battle ended incredibly poor for the allies
Battle of 73 Easting, 26 – 27 February 1991. A good battle ta show off mechanized war.
Battle of the Somme, because it's the battle of somme. Such a large loss of life.
Haha holy shit that had me laughing for nearly 30 minutes
I wish I could have commented on which battle to pick. I'd have loved to see how you wrote the first use of the tank mk1.
8006553 One battle has already been done however more will come.
Feel free to vote on this chapter or future chapters which involve battles.
I'm doing the old fashioned name in a hat and selecting the battles based on what I select
I would say that you should use at least one of the battles that involved the Japanese Kamikaze fighter pilots.
8166721 Don't forget Dieppe and the battle of Stalingrad!
If you don't do Gettysburg, I swear, I'm gonna be really disappointed
Magical railguns, of course. I mean, instead of using explosives to propel bullets, why not use stored magic? Things like runes and enchantments might also work. Using 100% magic might be too impractical, so magic-infused explosives is a good idea as well.
As for the bullets themselves, make them self-guided. Kind of something like the ballistic version of a target-seeking missile.
Other possibilities include a magic cannon (artillery), mortars, bombs, grenades, etc. Just figure out a way to use magic in them and you're good to go.
Get my groove here? I'm sure that there's a ton more ideas to be had, and these are just what I can think of off the top of my head.
That's... that's ingenious. Great thinking, you three! Preventing them form being able to fire...
Now that I think about it, it was probably planned in advance, but still great thinking nonetheless.
Ofc everyone forgets Paschendaele.
Ha, clever pun
This is obviously a couple years late, but hey it might just be food for thought for future material. If you really want to scare them, I find that there is nothing scarier then being on a ship on the loosing side. Be it a french Ship-of-the-Line during Trafalgar, a German u-boat caught by a hunter-killer task force, or simply one of the man you fleet engagements gone horribly wrong. I would personally prefer either the last stand of HMS Revenge, The Battle of Samar on the Winning Side, or maybe even the battle of Tsushima on the Russian side (maybe even on they floating brain hemorage called the Kamchatka)
