"Because nothing can break the bond between us; Not even death."

Discord sat in exile for seven years. Three more to go... three more years, and then I can see Fluttershy again... if only I could run my eagle talons through her mane, if only I could look again into those beautiful eyes... if only it was all over now. Then we could be together again, and we'd- what am I doing?! Sure, I have a crush on her... and she told me she loved me... but does that mean what I think it does? Besides, after all these years, she could've found a handsome, strong coltfriend fighting in the war... an actual coltfriend... not a draconequus, but a pony. Maybe a pegasus like her... Discord grunted his teeth at this.

She's... just a pretty mare. No, 'pretty' isn't good enough. She's beautiful, she's gorgeous, she's... not for me. What amazing mare would ever go out with me? I'm just some lonely, ugly draconequus... I can't possibly be good enough for her- Discord's thinking was cut off the sound of faint yelling.

"Discord! We have a dire circumstance!" It was Twilight Sparkle. She was running through the Everfree Forest, looking panicked.

"T-Twilight?" Discorded mumbled in disbelief.

"DIIIIIIIIIIIISCOOOOOORRRRRRRRD!" Twilight shouted, getting closer.

"Twilight?!" Discord stood up, and walked as close as he could to the magical barrier without knocking into the transparent magic.

"Dis...c-cord..." Twilight stopped to catch her breathe. The didn't look the same as she did before his exile- she had multiple scars and wounds, a black eye and a broken wing.

"Twilight... it's been seven years... isn't Sombra defeated?" Discord asked, a floating calendar next to him.

"Y-yes... but I... I was wrong about h-his magic..." She continued to breath heavily after her sprint into the forest. "He's... in Tartarus... but... his magic isn't... dead..."

"Let me guess- you're still battling?"

"Yes! And the war b-between Celestia and Luna... is still going... on..." Twilight stopped talking to try and finally relax her breathing.

"Not to be rude, princess, but why are you telling me this?"

"I thought you might like to... see Fluttershy... before something happens." Twilight panted.

"F-f-fluttershy..." Discord hadn't spoken her name in over five years, much less heard any other creature say it.

Using her magic, Twilight took down the magical barrier keeping Discord out. "Come on... she's this way."

Walking back inside Equestria, Discord was surprised. Usually problems were resolved quickly... but this had taken years. Like with the weed he had planted many years ago, the sun and moon were both in the sky- but the moon was just as bright as the sun, and the sun had turned... red? The moon was also purple, and the sky was an orange color. All over Ponyville houses were burnt down, and ponies stood on the streets homeless, begging for bits for their next meal.

Rarity's boutique was closed because it ran out of business, and every now and then ponies would run and duck while soldiers ran through shooting randomly. It was... chaotic. Not even Discord had thought of dividing Equestria like this- if he wasn't reformed, he would've considered this to be brilliant.

Small foals ran in fear of the soldiers. They were from Celestia's army- the Solar Empire's side of the war. They were killing whoever was not on their side, and quite frankly, they didn't go along with that rule. They ran through, murdering any and all ponies. Twilight and Discord dashed to her castle, where they would be safe.

As they darted, Discord noticed something else. Another soldier, dressed in blue armor instead of yellow like the ones he saw before. This one was taking in a small colt. These soldiers were from Luna's army- the Lunar Republic military. Any colts, and sometimes fillies if they were desperate enough, were taken in and trained to fight.

Missiles flew through the air, left and right. The plants were dead, and not even Discord could imagine what Applejack's farm looked like.

"This way- hurry!" Twilight yelled, standing in the castle's doorway.

Discord stopped watching and went inside the castle. Windows were shattered. There were faint blood stains on the floor, and the lights were turned off. Curtains were ripped and torn apart, and broken glass covered large amounts of the floor.

They walked down a long hallway until they stopped at one of the doors. "She's in here." Twilight whispered before turning around and walking back into the foyer.

Before entering, Discord knocked. Not hearing a reply, he slowly grabbed the handle and opened it. Inside was a small bed and half-broken glass window with loose purple curtains. The room was dark and cold, and the only light was a small ray of red sunlight that shone through the window and onto the bed, where Fluttershy lay on her side. Her long pink mane had faded, and was now a light grey color. Her fur was also less saturated. Her wings were spread out, and her breathing was long and loud.

"Fluttershy?" Discord asked, entering into the room, carefully shutting the door behind him. No move, and not a sound except for Fluttershy's strange breathing.

"Fluttershy, it's me, Discord..." the draconequus walked around in front of the bed so that she could see him.

"Discord...? Who... who is... who are... D-discord?" Fluttershy murmured, looking up at him with her weak eyes. Her young, teal eyes had changed over seven years. They were bloodshot and pale, and very tired looking. But Discord still loved them, still loved her.

"Fluttershy, it's me, Discord. Your best friend. I'm here, now, please tell me... what's wrong? I can see you're hurt... is it from the war?" He slipped his soft lion's paw underneath her chin as he sat himself on the floor next to the bed.

Fluttershy only looked up at him. Minutes later, she spoke. "D-discord? Discord.... d-disease spread... I'm sick...a-and..."

"Oh, Fluttershy... I hope you get better quickly. Even after all these years I love you- I don't want anything to change that-"

"I'm dying."

What Discord hadn't known was that two years after he was sent into exile, Sombra's magic had become infected. It was spreading to everypony that it could to turn them absolutely evil. After invading the princesses and soon after Shining Armor and Blueblood, the soldiers in the wars had been brainwashed with it, and then it started spreading even more. First the Crystal citizens, then the ponies in Manehattan, Canterlot, Unicorn Range, Apploosa, and further south. It had gotten to Ponyville five years after Twilight and her friends decided to rebel against Sombra. With everypony in Equestria under the influence of the king's magic, it was getting harder and harder by the minute to defeat them. His magic was enrooted in the ground, yet it was also a mist in the air.

But the more it spread, the more that germs were exposed as well. Bacteria came together, and created a disease that Twilight scientifically calls "Sombraious Infectionious". If the pony gets Sombra's dark magic inside them, and it has the sickness, then instead of them turning evil, they get the terrible contagious disease, and die within forty-eight hours. Usually the magic would get to the brain and take over the pony, but in this case, the bacteria would take over, and kill the innocent victim. It would devour the brain, shutting it down. This is exactly what happened to Fluttershy.

Discord stopped everything he was doing. Fluttershy closed her eyes and rested her head on Discord's paw. Her breathing was getting slower; Discord knew he didn't have much time.

"Fluttershy... oh, Fluttershy! I... I love you so much. If only you could be immortal with me... if only you didn't have to go away!" Discord said running his talons through her mane. "You don't deserve to die! Not here, at least. Ah-ha! Time for some chaos!"

"D-d...iscord..."

"Ssh. Don't worry, my dear. In all of this mess, chaos is nothing bad." In a snap, the room was transformed into a beautiful nighttime garden. The bed was turned into a stone walkway, yet big enough for Fluttershy to lay on. Surprisingly, it was comfortable. There was lush, green grass surrounding them, and tall, beautiful trees, almost like the Royal Canterlot Garden from the gala. Rays of purple moonlight fell down through the tree on top of them.

"Fluttershy... I love you too much. But that's not a bad thing." Discord whispered, still holding her head in his paw.

Fluttershy only looked up at him, trying to smile.

"I... I just... I just hate being immortal now. I'll have to go my whole life without you. It's not your fault. It's nopony's." Discord didn't know what to say. His best friend was dying... but now, it seems like she's more than his best friend. "Fluttershy, before you go, I have something to tell you..." he looked down at the passing pegasus, tears forming in the cracks of his eyes.

"I love you. For I will always love you, even until the end, because nothing can break the bond between us; Not even death."

"Discord... can I k-kiss you?" Fluttershy whispered, trying her hardest to look up at him.

Discord was somewhat shocked to hear this. Without thinking, he reached down and lightly kissed her lips. A minute later he pulled away- she was too weak for this.

"Fluttershy, I love you." Discord said, slipping his arms underneath her, trying to hold the pegasus.

"I... l-love... you... too... Discord..." Fluttershy whispered, "I... love... you..." Then, her eyes closed, and her breathing became silent... she was dead.

She's... gone. She's all gone. Discord didn't even realize he was crying. Laying her back down, he squeezed her hoof in his eagle talons, and clenched his teeth together. "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" He screamed at last. He looked down at Fluttershy, and then let go of her. With his head hung low, and his paw and claws folded together, he sat in the silence over Fluttershy's dead body.

With a snap, a beautiful pink blanket was pulled over her, covering her all the way up to her head. Looking down at her, he whispered, "I already miss you." Looking around, he noticed something. This was his chaos... his beautiful, beautiful chaos. "I know how to save Equestria... I will restore it all with my chaos."

Author's Note:

I don't write super sappy-lovey-dovey love stories. Sorry! I cried writing this, because I love Fluttershy. Don't worry Discord, not like that. You still can have her! Ahem... well, thank you for reading! :yay:

Please point out any grammar mistakes in any and all chapters nessecary. Thank you!

6448369 Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybeeeeeeeeee.......:trollestia:

6448384 Aww~ thank you!

XD you and your memes

6448371 You should also add this to the Fluttercord Group. So, more people can read it.

6448400 Good idea! I'm going to do that right now :yay:

That was so sweet! I'm going to check out your other stuff, when I get the chance.

6448437 Aww, thank you! I'd recommend Angel Kisses and its sequel Father's Day if you want more like this.

The emotional aspects are great, but I honestly had a little trouble keeping up with the war and Sombra and all that.

6489441 It's because of his magical abilities. At the end he realizes that the end in order to save Equestria he must use his chaos powers to make everything better. However, Twilight didn't consider that so she banished him to be safe than sorry.

6489501 I understand. This was originally a short one-shot (also I meant it to be one long chapter but to be apart of the contest it had to have 3) so I didn't put too much detail into the war since it was mostly focused on Fluttercord instead.

Oooomyyyyyyyggaaaawwed I crying

6760407 Heh, glad you enjoyed.

That's a sad story, even though it is short, I even cried!

6764723 Don't feel bad, I cried too. Glad you liked it. ^^

Yeah your right, and also Merry Christmas

I have to be honest. Initially I didn't want to read this due to the next issues I had:

1. I'm not a fan of Fluttercord. I tolerate the ship but I'm not a fan.
2. The concept of Discord dealing with Fluttershy's passing is nothing new at this point.
3. I read "Forever Young" and "Bride of Discord" before this one, so the problems got bigger.

I was wrong. Very wrong.

I think adding Sombra to the mix makes this more intriguing because now there's a reason for them to being apart and I like the idea of Discord not seeing Fluttershy again until the war is over, this makes the drama more interesting. And the "Can I kiss you?" Brilliant.

7143437 Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :yay:

6764753 It was a interesting concept, but I found some issues with it. For starters, Discord is the most powerful being in Equestia, his reality bending powers should have protected him from anything Sombra could throw at him. Tirek only defeated Discord after draining all the magic of Equestria aside from Twilights, so the notion that Sombra could do the same. My next problem is the fact that Discord did not cure Fluttershy, if his Chaos could save Equestria like he stated then that would mean it would have the power to undo the magic. Discord isn't stupid and would have though of that the moment he saw Fluttershys condition. And even if he could not take away the magic, he could replace it with his magic, turning Equestria into a chaotic wonderland for the sake of Expelling Sombras magic before reverting it back to the way it was.
