> Discord's Immortality > by Vanilla Mocha > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > "For I will always love you." > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Fluttershy... please, don't leave me." Discord whispered as he extended his soft lion paw out for her to grab. "I... I couldn't bare to be alone again for so many more years! Y-you're the only friend I have... the only one that is a true, nice, kind pony... you gave me another chance when I didn't deserve it. Please... don't follow them. Don't follow in their hoofsteps... you can't-" "Betray you?" Fluttershy asked. She looked over her back at the saddened draconequus, and suddenly felt bad for him. "Fluttershy..." He whispered, "Why are you and your friends... doing this?" "It's for our own good, Discord. Soon we will see each other again. I'm not leaving you, we're all just... taking a break. I know it's rough... I know you don't like it... but I have to do this. For the good of all things in the end, this will work out. I promise." Fluttershy turned and looked at the tall creature. She sat her small yellow hoof in his large paw. "You mean... you'll come back for me, r-right...?" He held her hoof tightly. "Yes, Discord. Because I love you." Fluttershy smiled. She didn't care that she had just told him that she loved him... she could always say it was 'friendship love'. Even if she was blushing, it didn't matter to her right now. It was only she and Discord before he was to be banned from Equestria for ten years. The end was near. Sombra had returned and was taking over the Crystal Empire once more, and since his last defeat he had grown stronger and was able to defeat the Crystal Heart. He was moving into the rest of the land, and had put a curse on the royal sisters. The dark magic had forced them to break out into war with each other, causing the once rumored and feared Solar Empire and Lunar Republic to rebel against each other. The curse had also effected Princess Cadence. She had become the princess of hatred, and for Shining Armor, it was very hard to take care of her. The evil King Sombra had mentally hurt her, like how he cursed Celestia and Luna. Shining was the only one that could keep her sane- for a little while. She had began to enslave her subjects, like how their past ruler had done a thousand years ago. Shining tried to stop her, but it was no use- being an alicorn, she was much stronger than he, and the princess proceeded with the torture. The only royal that Sombra did not know about was Twilight Sparkle- last time he had seen her, she was a simple unicorn under Celestia's wing. She knew she had to keep herself a secret until she could gather an army and rebel against him, ending the Solar and Lunar war along with it. In Twilight's mind, once Sombra could be defeated, his magic would fade away. And that's what she was planning to do- defeat him once and for all; end all of the chaos. Chaos. That was the one thing stuck in the back of Twilight's mind. Discord had been reformed, and wasn't up to much chaos. The last time he did any major damage was not even after the Smooze, and now that she could look back on it, it was rather funny. He had become good, and was even offering to be her friend. But one thing, one significant detail, didn;t make sense. Discord wasn't having fun during any of Sombra's revenge. He could go against them, like how he did with Tirek. Did he learn his lesson? Twilight knew she could ponder about this later, when she wasn't about to fight. "Come on, Fluttershy. You'll see him later... in ten years. Don't worry, Discord. We'll be okay." Twilight reassured them. The group of ponies stood in the foyer of Twilight's castle. It consisted of Equestria's newest heroes, otherwise known as the mane six, Twilight's faithful friend Spike the dragon, and Discord, the draconequus. "Yeah! It'll be only ten years, Dissy. It'll be like five seconds to you, after being trapped in stone for over five-hundred years!" Rainbow Dash said with a smile, hovering above Twilight. "Don't. Call. Me. Dissy!" Discord replied, facepalming. Rainbow only rolled her eyes in return. Turning his attention back to Fluttershy, Discord asked, "Fluttershy, promise me one thing." "Y-yes?" Fluttershy asked, still blushing. It was true, she loved Discord. Her friends had already guessed months ago, but she had never directly admitted to it. And even if she was to hopefully see him again after the rebellion, she regretted nothing. "You promise... that you and I... we'll never leave each other. That- that nothing like this, will ever separate us... and that you'll come back to me, like how I will come flying back to you when I'm allowed inside Equestria again...?" Discord stuttered when he talked, and when some words such as "you" and "I" were spoken he got quiet. His fiddled with his paw and eagle talons, now that Fluttershy had pulled away. "Of course, Discord." Fluttershy replied quietly, looking up into his big red and yellow eyes. To many, this feature would appear scary, freighting to a lot of ponies. But Fluttershy... she was calm when she saw them. It was like a trap- she stepped in, and was stuck there, frozen in time. "Really?" He asked, a smile growing on his face. "Yes; For I will always love you." > "Even until the end." > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Aww, that's so cute!" Pinkie Pie squealed. Rarity giggled at the... strange... relationship between the pegasus and draconequus. It was almost as strange as a dragon dating a unicorn. Almost. Rainbow Dash, on the other hoof, was fake-puking. "Blah! Love, love, love... c'mon! Let's go kill Sombra!" "Rainbow Dash! We're not killing Sombra, we're going to lock him in Tartarus!" Twilight corrected her. "I really wanted to fight an evil beast... and kill the evil beast..." Rainbow murmured. Applejack chuckled at her quiet remark to Twilight. Clearing her throat, Twilight said, "Well.... we've got to go. Discord, remember- once we ban you, the spell can only be broken after ten years. Of course, my magic- and my magic only- can reverse the spell, breaking the barrier between you and Equestria. But that's only for dire circumstances-" "Twilight?" Fluttershy asked quietly, cutting the princess off. "Yes, Fluttershy?" The purple alicorn replied. "Why does Discord have to leave?" "Well... being a draconequus, he has a... different... kind of magic. His magic is purposely chaotic, and if Sombra was to get ahold of that like Tirek did, we would have exactly an 8.3% chance of defeating him." She explained, pulling out a chalkboard from nowhere and writing on it, working out the math. "But... we defeated Tirek," Rainbow Dash said, "how does that make sense?" "Sombra is much more powerful than Tirek. He adapted to become stronger than the Crystal Heart- a very powerful idol. He also is a much more sneakier villain- he, believe it or not, is much more talented with his magic than Tirek." "How?" Applejack questioned. "Here, let me explain why I believe so," Twilight took a breath, and then replied, "Tirek was power-hungry. So is Sombra, but in a different way. Tirek wanted to make himself higher above the rest of Equestria by abducting others' magic. Sombra... he wants to be a very high ruler, yes, but he's not taking their magic so-to-say, but instead cursing them, forcing them to use their own magic for what he wants- it's like mind control. For instance, the Solar and Lunar War. The princesses would never do that- it's his curse. Does... that make sense?" Twilight smiled sheepishly as her friends slowly nodded their heads. "So... if he gets ahold of me, because I'm powerful, he could... use me to hurt Equestria?" Discord asked rhetorically. Twilight nodded back, her smile fading. "But why does Discord have to be in exile for ten whole years?" Fluttershy asked quietly. "Because, Sombra's magic and curses could harder to beat than we expect. We don't want to risk anything. Besides, we have to end the war, and clean up all of the damage, and repair everything." Fluttershy turned and gave him a hug. Discord, hugging back, thought he felt something... wet and cold. Seconds later Fluttershy pulled away from the hug, and then Discord realized something- Fluttershy was crying. "Fluttershy... please don't cry... I hate having to see you cry." He whispered, stroking his paw through her soft, pink mane. That long, silky mane... it was like angel's hair. Fluttershy was his angel- if he didn't know any better, he'd think she was a direct gift from Heaven. Her humble, teal eyes looked up at him, tears flowing from the corners of her eyes. Long, thin tears ran down her cheeks, and dripped onto the cold, hard floor of Twilight's Friendship Castle. "I-I'm sorry..." Fluttershy replied quietly, looking away. "Don't be, my dear. Please, tell me, what's wrong?" Wiping away some of her tears, her placed his paw under her chin. Dragging her attention back to him, she replied, "B-because... I... we... we won't see each other for ten years. Oh Discord, I already miss you!" She said, wrapping her hooves around him in another tight hug. Now it was Discord's turn to cry. As a warm, chocolate-milk tear rolled down his face, he held onto Fluttershy tighter. "I... I miss you, too, Fluttershy." The mane six watched in awe as the pegasus and draconequus held onto each other, bawling. "Hey, what's goin-" Spike asked, entering the room after leaving minutes ago for a snack. He held a cupcake in his claws, almost done eating it. "Shush!" Applejack whispered. "Well, alrigh- what the hay...?" Spike then noticed Fluttershy and Discord. His jaw dropped, and then, he began laughing. Twilight quickly zipped his mouth shut- literally- with her magic. "Fluttershy... we have a monster to go ki- I mean, defeat and imprison. C'mon, let's go get'em!" Rainbow said, jumping into the air. "Rainbow, give the poor dear a second!" Rarity protested. Rainbow, still hovering in midair, crossed her front legs and sighed, wishing that the two... ponies... one pony and draconequus... would hurry up. "Discord, I... I have to go now..." Fluttershy whispered, sniffling. "I know... I know. I love you, Fluttershy. I love you forever." Discord slowly let go of her, forcing a smile. "I love you forever, too, Discord. Even until the end." Fluttershy whispered, still crying. It then struck Discord. She, unlike him, wasn't immortal. She was going to have an end. He wasn't. Ever. As another chocolate tear ran across his long pony face, Discord sighed. "It looks like it's my time to leave. But don't worry, Fluttershy. I'll always be there for you- even if I have to be banned from Equestria." Fluttershy only nodded, and then, turned around and walked away. The ponies and Spike began to walk out of the castle. Discord couldn't take it any longer. "Fluttershy... canIkissyou?" There was no reply. Turning his head to look behind him, he noticed everypony was gone except for Twilight. Chuckling, the princess said, "Let's go, Discord. You need to go into the Everfree forest... and out to the other side." Twilight smiled sheepishly. Discord only sighed from disappointment, and then slumped towards Twilight. "Hey, I'm sure she'll give you that kiss. It might be in ten years, but-" "Please, Twilight, thank you, but I don't want to talk about her right now." Discord responded. "Um... ok." Twilight and Discord walked into the forest silently. 7 Years Later~ "Discord! We have a dire circumstance!" Twilight yelled. > "Because nothing can break the bond between us; Not even death." > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Discord sat in exile for seven years. Three more to go... three more years, and then I can see Fluttershy again... if only I could run my eagle talons through her mane, if only I could look again into those beautiful eyes... if only it was all over now. Then we could be together again, and we'd- what am I doing?! Sure, I have a crush on her... and she told me she loved me... but does that mean what I think it does? Besides, after all these years, she could've found a handsome, strong coltfriend fighting in the war... an actual coltfriend... not a draconequus, but a pony. Maybe a pegasus like her... Discord grunted his teeth at this. She's... just a pretty mare. No, 'pretty' isn't good enough. She's beautiful, she's gorgeous, she's... not for me. What amazing mare would ever go out with me? I'm just some lonely, ugly draconequus... I can't possibly be good enough for her- Discord's thinking was cut off the sound of faint yelling. "Discord! We have a dire circumstance!" It was Twilight Sparkle. She was running through the Everfree Forest, looking panicked. "T-Twilight?" Discorded mumbled in disbelief. "DIIIIIIIIIIIISCOOOOOORRRRRRRRD!" Twilight shouted, getting closer. "Twilight?!" Discord stood up, and walked as close as he could to the magical barrier without knocking into the transparent magic. "Dis...c-cord..." Twilight stopped to catch her breathe. The didn't look the same as she did before his exile- she had multiple scars and wounds, a black eye and a broken wing. "Twilight... it's been seven years... isn't Sombra defeated?" Discord asked, a floating calendar next to him. "Y-yes... but I... I was wrong about h-his magic..." She continued to breath heavily after her sprint into the forest. "He's... in Tartarus... but... his magic isn't... dead..." "Let me guess- you're still battling?" "Yes! And the war b-between Celestia and Luna... is still going... on..." Twilight stopped talking to try and finally relax her breathing. "Not to be rude, princess, but why are you telling me this?" "I thought you might like to... see Fluttershy... before something happens." Twilight panted. "F-f-fluttershy..." Discord hadn't spoken her name in over five years, much less heard any other creature say it. Using her magic, Twilight took down the magical barrier keeping Discord out. "Come on... she's this way." Walking back inside Equestria, Discord was surprised. Usually problems were resolved quickly... but this had taken years. Like with the weed he had planted many years ago, the sun and moon were both in the sky- but the moon was just as bright as the sun, and the sun had turned... red? The moon was also purple, and the sky was an orange color. All over Ponyville houses were burnt down, and ponies stood on the streets homeless, begging for bits for their next meal. Rarity's boutique was closed because it ran out of business, and every now and then ponies would run and duck while soldiers ran through shooting randomly. It was... chaotic. Not even Discord had thought of dividing Equestria like this- if he wasn't reformed, he would've considered this to be brilliant. Small foals ran in fear of the soldiers. They were from Celestia's army- the Solar Empire's side of the war. They were killing whoever was not on their side, and quite frankly, they didn't go along with that rule. They ran through, murdering any and all ponies. Twilight and Discord dashed to her castle, where they would be safe. As they darted, Discord noticed something else. Another soldier, dressed in blue armor instead of yellow like the ones he saw before. This one was taking in a small colt. These soldiers were from Luna's army- the Lunar Republic military. Any colts, and sometimes fillies if they were desperate enough, were taken in and trained to fight. Missiles flew through the air, left and right. The plants were dead, and not even Discord could imagine what Applejack's farm looked like. "This way- hurry!" Twilight yelled, standing in the castle's doorway. Discord stopped watching and went inside the castle. Windows were shattered. There were faint blood stains on the floor, and the lights were turned off. Curtains were ripped and torn apart, and broken glass covered large amounts of the floor. They walked down a long hallway until they stopped at one of the doors. "She's in here." Twilight whispered before turning around and walking back into the foyer. Before entering, Discord knocked. Not hearing a reply, he slowly grabbed the handle and opened it. Inside was a small bed and half-broken glass window with loose purple curtains. The room was dark and cold, and the only light was a small ray of red sunlight that shone through the window and onto the bed, where Fluttershy lay on her side. Her long pink mane had faded, and was now a light grey color. Her fur was also less saturated. Her wings were spread out, and her breathing was long and loud. "Fluttershy?" Discord asked, entering into the room, carefully shutting the door behind him. No move, and not a sound except for Fluttershy's strange breathing. "Fluttershy, it's me, Discord..." the draconequus walked around in front of the bed so that she could see him. "Discord...? Who... who is... who are... D-discord?" Fluttershy murmured, looking up at him with her weak eyes. Her young, teal eyes had changed over seven years. They were bloodshot and pale, and very tired looking. But Discord still loved them, still loved her. "Fluttershy, it's me, Discord. Your best friend. I'm here, now, please tell me... what's wrong? I can see you're hurt... is it from the war?" He slipped his soft lion's paw underneath her chin as he sat himself on the floor next to the bed. Fluttershy only looked up at him. Minutes later, she spoke. "D-discord? Discord.... d-disease spread... I'm sick...a-and..." "Oh, Fluttershy... I hope you get better quickly. Even after all these years I love you- I don't want anything to change that-" "I'm dying." What Discord hadn't known was that two years after he was sent into exile, Sombra's magic had become infected. It was spreading to everypony that it could to turn them absolutely evil. After invading the princesses and soon after Shining Armor and Blueblood, the soldiers in the wars had been brainwashed with it, and then it started spreading even more. First the Crystal citizens, then the ponies in Manehattan, Canterlot, Unicorn Range, Apploosa, and further south. It had gotten to Ponyville five years after Twilight and her friends decided to rebel against Sombra. With everypony in Equestria under the influence of the king's magic, it was getting harder and harder by the minute to defeat them. His magic was enrooted in the ground, yet it was also a mist in the air. But the more it spread, the more that germs were exposed as well. Bacteria came together, and created a disease that Twilight scientifically calls "Sombraious Infectionious". If the pony gets Sombra's dark magic inside them, and it has the sickness, then instead of them turning evil, they get the terrible contagious disease, and die within forty-eight hours. Usually the magic would get to the brain and take over the pony, but in this case, the bacteria would take over, and kill the innocent victim. It would devour the brain, shutting it down. This is exactly what happened to Fluttershy. Discord stopped everything he was doing. Fluttershy closed her eyes and rested her head on Discord's paw. Her breathing was getting slower; Discord knew he didn't have much time. "Fluttershy... oh, Fluttershy! I... I love you so much. If only you could be immortal with me... if only you didn't have to go away!" Discord said running his talons through her mane. "You don't deserve to die! Not here, at least. Ah-ha! Time for some chaos!" "D-d...iscord..." "Ssh. Don't worry, my dear. In all of this mess, chaos is nothing bad." In a snap, the room was transformed into a beautiful nighttime garden. The bed was turned into a stone walkway, yet big enough for Fluttershy to lay on. Surprisingly, it was comfortable. There was lush, green grass surrounding them, and tall, beautiful trees, almost like the Royal Canterlot Garden from the gala. Rays of purple moonlight fell down through the tree on top of them. "Fluttershy... I love you too much. But that's not a bad thing." Discord whispered, still holding her head in his paw. Fluttershy only looked up at him, trying to smile. "I... I just... I just hate being immortal now. I'll have to go my whole life without you. It's not your fault. It's nopony's." Discord didn't know what to say. His best friend was dying... but now, it seems like she's more than his best friend. "Fluttershy, before you go, I have something to tell you..." he looked down at the passing pegasus, tears forming in the cracks of his eyes. "I love you. For I will always love you, even until the end, because nothing can break the bond between us; Not even death." "Discord... can I k-kiss you?" Fluttershy whispered, trying her hardest to look up at him. Discord was somewhat shocked to hear this. Without thinking, he reached down and lightly kissed her lips. A minute later he pulled away- she was too weak for this. "Fluttershy, I love you." Discord said, slipping his arms underneath her, trying to hold the pegasus. "I... l-love... you... too... Discord..." Fluttershy whispered, "I... love... you..." Then, her eyes closed, and her breathing became silent... she was dead. She's... gone. She's all gone. Discord didn't even realize he was crying. Laying her back down, he squeezed her hoof in his eagle talons, and clenched his teeth together. "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" He screamed at last. He looked down at Fluttershy, and then let go of her. With his head hung low, and his paw and claws folded together, he sat in the silence over Fluttershy's dead body. With a snap, a beautiful pink blanket was pulled over her, covering her all the way up to her head. Looking down at her, he whispered, "I already miss you." Looking around, he noticed something. This was his chaos... his beautiful, beautiful chaos. "I know how to save Equestria... I will restore it all with my chaos."
