2000 years ago, Equestria was met with Nightmare, the living incarnation of the cursed sword, Soul Edge.

By that, you mean 'a guy went to a convention in an awesome costume and ended up getting bit in the tail for it'.

He was defeated, and sealed in stone for all of eternity.

Which sucked, by the way.

But now, he is free.

Whoo-hoo!

But much to his surprise, he is not alone.

Wait, what?

For now he is greeted with five faces that are… quite curious, to say the least.

To say the least. I wasn't expecting a quintet of fools to follow me to Candy Land.

But we're your friends, Nighty!

AND STOP CALLING ME THAT!

Hah! The azure knights of scammers. Oh I can just tell this will be good...

Yep. My thoughts were correct.

Looks great ! :) Can't wait for more :D

lovely story.

good work :)

How does he look in this story?
I'm also guessing they're all humanized can you post/link an example of how they look?

You know, I'm kinda confused by the title of this story... Neither it's proper german, nor does it actually makes sense if I try to translate it back...

Either way, I suppose it should be read "Die azurblauen Ritter der Betrüger" which is the most literally translation, if you want to fix the broken title. There are quiet a few other options, but they doesn't match perfectly.

'Life is too short to learn german' =D

MfG (Heil dir Elatus!)

wait.......he is a follower of chutulu?..................well then........this is gonna get ineresting, even if it came out of nowhere

5426075 He mentioned that his costume was based off of SC 1's Nightmare. I'll post a link of sorts in the story, for everyone's sake.

And as for the design of the Equestrians… They're based on the art style of this talented young fellow. But their unicorns have horns, if necessary, and their pegasi have wings. Trust me, all will be explained.

Okay...you've caught my attention, now let's see you keep it. :)

You have my curiosity. Now let's see if you can get my attention.
(Translation: Good, strong start. Keep up the good work.)

I've noticed a lot of these stories have made a surprising comeback.

The title of this story isn't proper German. It should be "Azure Ritter die Betrüger".

Nice, I like it Moar! Throws cup at the ground!

5440973 I'm getting so much love… Oh, this is sweet!

I have the weirdest boner right now.

Little curious as to how Soul Edge will exist in present-day equestria. Can't imagine there are a whole lot of souls to reap.

5450119 Soul Edge has survived for thousands of years. And not all of that time was spent in bloodshed. My opinion (which is law here) is that whenever Soul Edge is in a place where there's no souls to harvest and no hosts to cart it off (i.e: in a random valley in the middle of nowhere), it enters a self-induced 'hibernation' of sorts, that lets it wait until it finds a new host (i.e: some stupid settlers that are easy pickings).

The juices they flow so heavy! Like a nectar swollen peach. Once the final bite is taken. I long for the very thing all breathing beings crave for. In a silent whisper and I say Moar! Then the raven flies off.

5453885 … What in the name of Yog-Sothoth did I just read? I feel like it's supposed to be a compliment, but… I can't understand completely...

After you commented on my story, I looked to see what you've written (As I do with all commenters) And was pleased with this story, nothing of the others yet, but I would LOVE to do a crossover later on. That's just me being hopeful, though. :trixieshiftright:

Do not forget the importance of Yhagni, Him Who Is Not to be Named (The King in Yellow), and Shub-Niggurath. Yog-Sothoth is one of the most powerful of the outer gods and is All-in-One/One-in-All, but others also hold great importance. Yhagni, She Who Is Imprisoned By Her Brethren, is perhaps the most powerful of the great old ones and is rightly feared. The King in Yellow is known to be rather benevolent and helpful if he so feels; he is a powerful ally to have. Shub-Niggurath, The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young, is the mother of very many powerful horrors and is honored amongst the great old ones.

5516206 You think he doesn't know that? It's just that he spews out only the first few names that I can come up with at a time.

5517983
Ah, I see...
Well, I look forward to future spells involving the Great Old Ones. Continue the good work! :pinkiehappy:

You know, after doing some research, I was a mite concerned that this guy was part of an Lovecraftian cult. Especially since he worshipped the Great Old Ones and apparently revered the name Nyarlathotep, which is pretty much the closest thing that the Cthulhu mythos has to the Devil (i.e. trickster and emptor that likes to screw people over because he can). But I guess this is a case of Dark is Not Evil. Still, I expect shit to go bad very soon, perhaps his summoning being found out or him being framed for Faust's death or something.

Also, just so you know, the Fausticorn is the Sys Admin for the Equestrian sector, with Umbra as her apprentice.

5539951 Nyarlathotep isn't ALL bad. He actually does show concern for the various cults, and he does tend to them and make sure they work properly. In my own headcanon, he also does respond to prayers and requests for help, although normally he does so with ulterior motives (slavery, madness, etc). But the point is, he DOES respond, which is more than I can say for other Old Ones and Outer Gods, who kind of just sit there in the cosmos and dick around. Nyarlathotep is the most down-to-Earth (or whatever planet he's on), hard-working eldritch horror in the Lovecraft-verse, which is something that Wallace (Nightmare) respects. I also think that he's more of a Chaotic Neutral alignment, and he just likes to troll mortals, mainly because he can't get a rise out of other creatures.

And yes, I am aware of who's the Sys Admin here. I do pay attention to other Displaced fics, y'know. But honestly, just because Faust is the Sys Admin, doesn't mean she's a singular being. The Faust here isn't actually THAT Faust, just like how this Celestia isn't Gilgamesh's Celestia. Just two beings who have remarkably similar traits.

5540553 I suppose compared to the others who just wait around to destroy things he is rather admirable in actually taking initiative.

And I just wanted to make sure you knew. I also find it very interesting that Faust is ordering political assassinations, even if they are justified due to there being several nobles like Mott. I also want to know how Silikus will play into this.

So.
Finally read the entire thing so far.....

I like it.

5566882 Good to know you like it. There is more to come, trust me.

5567601
Would you be willing to a crossover one of these days?

5540632 Plenty of the Old Ones are, unfortunately, bound by certain cosmic forces, restricting them to what is merely possible. As many of them are not something a "sane" reality could hold, they're impossible, and can't do anything.
Until the stars are right, the forces aligned, and the time of mankind once again draws to a temporary (for a very long term view of temporary) close. ... And I wouldn't call the Crawling Chaos anything along the lines of not-evil. Or evil. ... Or any alignment at all; their morals are so far different from our own as to be incomprehensible. Blue and Orange Morality at it's finest.

Some of the Elder Gods, though, definitely are kind of just lazy bums.

Though, not gonna lie. Bringing a worshipper of the those from beyond the stars into this? Especially one that can interact with them?
I'm not sure if I should be worried, or go fetch an extra large bag of popcorn and my recliner.

dear lord this is intriguing color me amazed also Mami well i remember a Mami from a while ago that resembles the one that you just mentioned but i cant remember from what seriei.......................................................................... oh dear well this is now amazingly interesting you had my interest but now you have my attention

I... don't get it. This guy is too marty sue for me.

You just spent the past ten minutes having a guy pull out cthulu references like it was the real deal, summon a fairy, and somehow not go insane...

yeah, i am not impressed, but i will not down vote it

5620259 Well, he's not going cuckoo because he was grown around the idea of Lovecraftian abominations existing. Meanwhile, with normal people in Lovecraft's stories, their minds can't accept the idea. It's kind of like culture shock, but with creatures from beyond the void of the universe. And who says he's NOT crazy? After all, he DID accept the powers of Soul Edge rather quickly… And he's alright with it eating souls constantly. And hearing their tortured screams. He may or may not be less sane than he appears. But saying it flat-out wouldn't be too interesting, wouldn't it?

this is a sweet story, hope you update soon
