Everything that happened afterward

Applejack and Rarity walked down the street towards their sisters' clubhouse. Neither of them spoke for a while.

"I really regret making her feel bad like that." Rarity broke the silence. "I really really do."

"We all do, Sugarcube," Applejack reminded her. "We all do."

"I don't want to do this," Rarity continued. "I really don't want to be the one to tell her."

"Rarity, calm down." Applejack spoke sharply. "None of this will help." Rarity sighed.

"I know. Are you sure we shouldn't find her and tell her the truth?"

"Let's just focus on the task at hoof," Applejack answered. Silence reigned again.

When they finally reached the clubhouse, they both stared up at it.

"Girls?" Applejack called up. "Can y'all come down?"

"Sure!" Apple Bloom poked her head out of the clubhouse door. She trotted down, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo behind her. "What's up, sis?"

"Well first, we have to tell you who Mare Do Well is," Rarity cut in. The fillies' eyes rounded in amazement.

"You know who she is?" Sweetie Belle asked in a higher voice than usual. Rarity nodded.

"She was me," Applejack admitted. "And Pinkie Pie, and Twilight, and Fluttershy a bit."

"You're a hero?" Apple Bloom asked excitedly. "Mah sister's a hero!"

"It ain't like that, Apple Bloom. We did it to teach Rainbow Dash a lesson. About humility," Applejack explained.

"Rainbow Dash didn't need a lesson!" Scootaloo exclaimed. "She was the best pony ever!"

"But we made a mistake, going about it like that," Rarity said quickly. "And today, Rainbow Dash, she-"

"She left," Applejack finished. "With us, the Mare Do Well, here in Ponyville, she left to be a hero somewhere else." The Cutie Mark Crusaders stared at her in complete silence.

"I... I... it's not possible," Scootaloo stammered. Applejack and Rarity hugged her.

"We're sorry, Scootaloo. We know how much you adored her."

"I wanted to be her little sister," Scootaloo murmured. "I guess she didn't love me enough... just like me old sister. The one I was born with."

"Don't say that!" Sweetie Belle exclaimed. "She loved you!"

"Yeah, she did," Applejack assured Scootaloo. "It'll be alright."

"Are you gonna go get her back?" Scootaloo asked.

"It was Rainbow's decision," Applejack answered. "We can't interfere with what she wants. Maybe she'll come home."

"I hope she does," Scootaloo said, wiping away a small tear.

"Me too, Sugarcube. Me too."

Twilight's stomach was doing somersaults. She had no idea what Princess Celestia thought. It had been a day since Rainbow Dash had left. Now, Spike had told her teacher and mentor, so now she was standing in Canterlot Castle with her remaining friends.

Princess Celestia entered the room, and Twilight immediately bowed. Her friends followed in suit.

"Twilight, Spike told me that Rainbow Dash left Ponyville because she was jealous of 'Mare Do Well. Please, explain."

Twilight swallowed and began to tell the story, her friends chipping in occasionally. When she was finished, Princess Celestia was silent.

"That was not the way to handle the situation, Twilight," she said at last. Twilight's ears dropped.

"I know that now, Princess," she replied.

"Me too," Applejack agreed.

"Me three!" Pinkie exclaimed.

"I feel dreadful," Rarity added.

"I feel awful," Fluttershy murmured. Princess Celestia nodded.

"Princess," Applejack spoke up. "Ah've been sayin' that it ain't our place to stop her from leavin'. Should we have stopped Rainbow?"

"A valid point, Applejack," Princess Celestia admitted. "Yes, you are right. Still, it is unusual for Rainbow Dash to leave her friends, from what I gather from your friendship letters. And Twilight?"

"Yes?" Twilight asked, lifting her head.

"I expect you to explain to Ponyville why Rainbow Dash left. She surely left a big impact in your town."

"I will, Princess," Twilight responded, bowing.

"Good. Now, you may leave," Princess Celestia answered. Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie bowed, then left the throne room.

"I wish this never happened," Rarity murmured.

"I know," Pinkie replied, for once walking instead of bouncing.

Rainbow Dash flew over the skies of Van Hoover. It had been a week since she had arrived at the city, but she was already known as a hero.

"Good morning Rainbow Dash!" Called a pink Unicorn from down below.

"Hi!" Rainbow waved back. "Just doing my routine flyover!" She suddenly noticed movement out of the corner of her eye.

"Gotta dash!" Rainbow flew quickly to a dark alleyway. Two ponies were standing in the middle.

"Hey you!" Rainbow Dash shouted. "Stop harassing him!" Both stallions turned. The thief widened his eyes.

"Rainbow Dash?" He asked nervously.

"You bet I am!" Rainbow agreed, flying straight up to him. "Now you go report yourself to the police, or I'm gonna know about it!" The stallion nodded, mute with fear, and galloped away to the police station.

"Are you alright?" Rainbow Dash asked the victim. He nodded.

"Thank you, Rainbow Dash!" He exclaimed. "Van Hoover is so lucky to have you!" Rainbow smiled and brushed herself off, for show.

"It was nothing," she replied. "All in a day's work for a hero!" By now a small crowd had formed at the mouth of the alley, cheering Rainbow's name.

"Thanks guys!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed, flying up as photographers flashed their cameras. It was different here. There was more publicity, more situations like the one Rainbow had just experienced. There were no robberies like that in Ponyville. But Rainbow didn't mind. She was a hero, and for the time being that was all that mattered.

Author's Note:

Okay, here's an extra chapter. I hope that cleared up stuff some of you were wondering.
Also, Ponyville is sad that they lost Rainbow Dash, but their attention is quickly diverted from her, as it always is.

"Twilight, Spike told me that Spike left Ponyville because she was jealous of 'Mare Do Well.' Please, explain."

shouldn't that be

Rainbow Dash left Ponyville because she was jealous of 'Mare Do Well

This is better. Now we know that everyone everypony managed to move on.

4616384 Darn! You beat me to it...

oh come on I was hopping for them to find Rainbow and Convince her to come back.

4616393 well I have this to say

4616384 Fixed.

4616400 Well, I can't please everyone. :twilightsheepish:

4616415 Humph You could at least Tried that Route First.

4616423 I've said earlier I wanted this to be like a slap in the face to the Mane Six for their behavior. So they don't get Rainbow back.

4616437 Bah Anyways this and Some other fics inspired me to make my own where Rainbow Joins a Circus after Leaving Ponyville and the others go out and find Bring her back but unlike yours I going for a more Happy ending but it will be earned.

4616400 Yeah...it was a bit of a lazy ending huh?

4616502 Very too Bad the author cant make a Alternate ending where they go out and Convince rainbow to come back.

This seems a bit too short. Is there gonna be a sequel? Cuz this leaves room for more to be added on

4616513 Hey, there's no rule about taking the concept of this fic and making it better :moustache:

4616400 They can't. Rainbow dash has to choose on her own, whether or not she wants to come back to Ponyville.

4616457 Alright. Can you tell me when you right write it? I'd love to read it.

4616514 This was originally a one shot. I only added the second part because everyone said the first one wasn't complete. :twilightsheepish: I have so many things to write at the moment, I'm considering just compiling all sequels into one story collection. If I'm able to write them all. Besides, what should I write?

4616754 Thank you Someone understands!

Wow... that was pretty short. Whelp, time to look for a new Element of Loyalty because I'm sure RD's connection broke.

4616437 This rather begs the question on what would happen if they needed to use the Elements of Harmony at time while Rainbow is off playing "hero" in Vanhoover. She is (or was, I guess) the Element of Loyalty, with all of the inherent responsibilities.

So much for that, huh? I just hope that nothing that bed does happen.

4616927 That's kinda what I was wondering, and the point that I was trying to make, as well.

4616415 No, it isn't. I just read it, refreshed it after you posted that, and it still reads like this:

"Twilight, Spike told me that Spike left Ponyville because she was jealous of 'Mare Do Well. Please, explain."

Sorry to tell you this, but I'm looking straight at the uncorrected sentence in another browser window as I type this.

4616754 So what I wanted that kind of ending.

Huh...I was thinking RD would have just pretended to leave (or leave for a month or two) in order to teach them not to mess with her, that being loyal does not mean being subservient to your freinds, and that loyalty is not something to be abused/exploited.

4617024 I am such an idiot. I didn't notice that, so I corrected something else. :facehoof:

4617840 Well then I'm sorry, but I guess this story isn't for you.

4618355 you're Right it isn't I was expecting the opposite like them getting redeemed for there mistake buy Finding Rainbow and Bring here back home By her own Free will of course and that there Guilt would Punish them.

4616808 Well the thing is im not that good of a writer but I do want to try.

4609898 Just seemed like an odd way to solve one's problem, and a little uncharacteristic of Rainbow to be honest. Raibow is headstrong and willful, not really someone to pack and run away from her issues.

Well I kind of like downer endings like these where everything can't be solved by talking or friendship magic. I mean, there are probably alot of stories like these where Dash does come back so there are those. This one, is different and I like it. And if Dash finds peace in leaving, then let her be.

4618997 Yeah, it probably wouldn't happen in real life. AU tag. =3

So now, Rainbow Dash is the hero she wanted to be. I'm glad about that actually. Now, comes the speculation of what happens due to Rainbow Dash's absence. Does Spike and Rarity fall to their doom in 'Secret of My Excess'? Are where's left of the Mane Six able to convince Applejack to come back to Ponyville in 'The Last Round-up'? Will Ponyville still be chosen to get the water up to Cloudsdale in 'Hurricane Fluttershy'? And so on and so forth.
This is NOT a request to keep this going. These are just the ramblings of a reader.:twilightsheepish:

4619265 One little alter of the timeline, and everything falls apart. :pinkiecrazy:
P.S. You're the 100th comment! :yay:

4618997 rainbow dash is loyalty but you can only be loyal to those that are loyal to you, she felt betrayed by her friends when she realized the mare do well trick on her and decided it was ok to leave em, she felt bad for leaving scootalo too but as she said she quickly replaced her with mare do well so is not like she was going to miss her, or at least that is what she believed atm

4618345 No, you're not an idiot. That happens to every writer who's put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard. It just happens to all us every now and then.:rainbowderp:

So please, don't beat yourself up about it.

Okay?

4608060 I thought that she was in Vanhoover in the second chapter. How's she in Neighagra Falls?!:applejackconfused::applejackunsure::ajbemused:

4622339 Alright, I won't.

4622386 Magic!
No, I just forgot she was in Van Hoover. Sorry!

4622592 I'm glad. *hugz*

:rainbowlaugh:

And that's cool. I once did the same thing to one of my OCs that's in another fandom. She was supposed to be in New York City (as part of an assignment with three of her teammates) and she somehow or other found herself right back in Chicago, where they all started out.:twilightoops::facehoof:

She...and I...never did figure that one out.:facehoof: But I did eventually get her back to NYC where she was supposed to be.:ajsmug:

Although she did give me a pretty big bawling out at the end of it for messing out like that.:twilightoops:

4622263 It's not just due to her element. Take Rainbow Dash's personality in account. She is brash, headstrong, not much of a clever thinker in areas other than stunts. Typically she would have flown right in the faces of the other Mane 6 and confronted them about the betrayal ratherthan just run away.

4623303 Muses don't like being messed with much.:ajbemused:

Especially mine.:twilightoops:

4624781 Thanks.

Aaaand with that, I bid you all "Good night", dear friends. I'm bushed, and headin' for bed in a few. My bed's callin' my name.:ajsleepy:
