Its all to do with money. Celestia and twilight found out that pony meat was worth quite a bit in some universes. Since Equestria was in a financial decline they accepted the offer to trade ponies for gold and thus the Rquestia Pony Meat Business was born. They used mirror pool clones to supply the humans with unlimited supply of pony meat. I went more into detail about it here.

I have to admit, it is a fairly unique idea. Cupcakes as a cooking show. Also, I like how you used clones for the victims. As such, the butthurters technically don't have an excuse to whine about it, since its not like the actual characters are being killed. Just clones.
