This chapter and the previous chapter are both labeled as chapter 34, just a heads up.
You know, I really wonder when one of them will think of sending Sunset back through the mirror and returning to try and fix her shape. Of course since it is the obvious answer they won't even bother thinking of it until Spike or ppinkie mentions it casually.

that's what I've been thinking for awhile.
Just go through the damn original mirror, then come back, bam instant tix.
5264220 5264228 It might not work, actually. The mirror matches the form of the creature passing through with the closest fit on the other side. Right now, Sunset's natural form is human, thanks to the mirror. They would have to first find a way to get back to the EG world without using the perfected mirror, which puts them at risk of Grogar again, then use the mirror from the EG side and hopes it reverts Sunset. Grogar is the big issue with that plan. He is likely to be prepared for them this time around.
About the new spell lore revealed... Does that mean divination is closer alined with earth pony magic, and mind affecting (like the stare) closer to pegasus?

I can think of a few problems with that idea. First of all, I don't think that they've figured out how to open up the portal at-will yet, so they'd have to wait thirty moons for that to be a possibility, and I think they want to get her fixed before that, if at all possible. I think they might have mentioned that at some point, but it's been a while since Sunset showed up, so I could easily be mistaken.
Second, they have no way of knowing what will happen if Sunset enters the mirror as a human from Equestria's side. The mirror could try to change her somehow, even though she's already a human, and that could mess things up badly. And there's the possibility that since she went in as a human, she'd still come back as a human.
They could get around that problem by using Celestia's magic to travel to the human world again and then letting Sunset walk through the portal from that side, and that would almost certainly work. The only problem (besides the thirty moon thing coming up again) is that I'm pretty sure that demon goat guy is still around, and he could intercept them again, either on the way over or on the way back (since I don't think that Celestia would want to walk through the portal as a pony on humanland's side for the same reasons that Sunset walking through as a human is a bad idea).
And since we're talking about potential solutions, I have one I thought of a while back.
Fae could find a way to use the same magic that turned him into a changeling princess to do the same to Sunset. She wouldn't be the same pony she was before, but she would at least be able to fit in a lot better, and if Twilight does manage to get the spell they use on Fae to work better, she might be able to use it to look like she used to.
And this solution would bring up a few plot points that have been floating around, just waiting to be used. Most notably, Fae would finally have to look into that knowledge from Chrysalis that he hasn't wanted to touch, and he would have to finally start laying some eggs. And Sunset would then actually be Fae's daughter, and I think it's been pretty obvious that that was going to happen ever since he started taking care of her. And Twilight even said in this chapter that something “Almost makes me wish you could turn me into a changeling,” which could be some foreshadowing. And as a final bonus, Sunset becomes Fae's heir, and at least then the changelings would be guaranteed to have another queen who likes Equestria if something were to happen to Fae.
Of course there are several problems with the idea. For one, Sunset wouldn't really technically be a pony, but even worse than that is the fact that Sunset would die if it went wrong.
So I don't know if they'd ever actually try this idea, except possibly as an absolute last resort, but I can see Fae at least approaching Sunset and basically saying "I have a solution, but it is the absolute worst possible solution."
And a few questions about this chapter:
I assume you're saying that Sunset is putting the belt on there, but then how was she talking to Celestia before this? Did I miss of forget about Celestia learning English from Fae at some point?
And didn't you way a few chapters ago that Fae's coronation was going to be in the Crystal Empire? Because this chapter makes it sound like it's happening in Canterlot.

If I remember correctly the original mirror is only active for a short period of time every so many moons. I think celestia mentions in one of the chapters a specific time frame, needless to say it'll be a long wait for sunset.
5264412 To that I say PACK THE PINKIES He may just eject himself into the void to escape... I'd imagine theirs a reality where someone has. ( one thought pinkie's are scary especially in swarm numbers at something that's fairly certain to have no friends like the enemy they risk encountering)(it would provide a distraction atleast)
and maybe 3 of the four Alicorns and some old earth style weapons ... anyone know what happens to the goat when he finds enchanted Anti magic thermite in his throat?... I'm thinking heavy distraction.
frankly I'm surprised no one has got sick of this and just say buck it and prep for all out war of annihilation against the him and wiped him off the face of his insignificant realm and just got her back to earth to use the portal.
also time travel is possible so why not travel forward to the portal day once your ready or a few days back if the prep time took long, if you jump forward a week to do it you can change back and just ignore your future selves when they appear in a week or two to originally complete the job.
seriously is celestia not reaching her breaking point of just say that's it Lets get my daughter fixed now, I'm done letting her feel like this because if she's not I feel fay should be.
That was fun. Looking forward to more.
Keep up the good work. Deus tecum.

I wondered why they didn't do this too. But when I reread the story there is a passage that states that the portal only opens every 15 YEARS on Equestria's end. So if they wanted to use the portal to fix her they either need to have her chill in human land for the 30 something moons it takes for it to open on earth or a decade for it to open in Equestria. There was some concern with Grognar and his shenanigans but personally I think they could have deal with him easily if they prepared more.
It is kinda funny how if Fae and Celestia hadn't gone and picked Sunset the events in Rainbow Rocks would likely take place and the problem would have solved itself.
5264968
Thank you for taking one for the team and finding that passage for us.
Though I'm pretty sure that with Fae around, Rainbow Rocks would have happened differently anyway. There's a decent chance that he would have gone over with her just to be human again. Though doing so might have turned him into a girl, so maybe not. But then everything that's happened because of Sunset or with Celestia and Fae's relationship wouldn't have happened.
5264985
True, but even with Fae around it wouldn't have changed the events that happened on the Earth end before Twilight arrived to save them. So Sunset still would have called for help via the magic book and Twilight would have (hopefully) realized that the book could be used to power the portal (somehow). After that you're right; everything is up in the air. Fae would have likely changed things someway or another. I bet it would have involved violence.
Of course Fae and Celestia's relationship likely wouldn't be as . . . ahem . . . . romantic. So while it would have fixed Sunset this story would be quite different.
5265036 I haven't viewed this but if its in that human world I'm not sure I'd care to
Huh, I was actually getting a little concerned with the lack of Luna, considering recent events.
Guess she really is just being reserved for now.
I noticed the talk about RR and that is a concern. Fae's existence shouldn't mess with the Dazzlelings from going to CHS so RR in that sense should still happen. the Question is, will the girls find her book, i figure Sunset left it in the locker. I figure Applejack or Rarity might figure out the books use and that's how we get it going in this universe. It be interesting to see what form Fae would take if she went. Note we don't know what would happen if Celestia stayed in Equestria and Fae in Earthquestria. That whole dream thing is in many ways a major handicap on Fae. However before all of this they have to deal with Tirek. From what we can see everything in this universe happened the same way as the show till season 4, barring the slide of the Chrsyalis comics. Since Tirek was confirmed to escape in season 2 he is lose in this universe as well. I bet Fae will have some words for Tia on how Tirek was loose for so long.
And there's the passive aggressive misanthropy again.

It's funnier how Spike is in this work, given what he does about changelings in canon.
away.
Didn't Fae find this out a few chapters back?
She does get along with Tiberius pretty well...
So Cadance
Damn... This was a deep chapter with lovely worldbuilding/ character development.
