Chapter 9

Author's Note:

So sorry for the huge delay between this chapter and the last. It's been... what, a year? Anyway, don't forget the criticism.

(Perspective: Day Star)

'Darn it! Where could he have gone!?' I thought as i continued to fly around the castle grounds like a madmare, searching for a particular stallion who has a knack for disappearing. He was supposed to be attending breakfast in exactly...

I glanced at a glock as i flew past it.

'2 Minutes!!!' I was doomed. I had 2 minutes to find this dumb colt and get him to the dining hall. Worst of all, I, nor anypony else who was looking for him had any idea where he was.The entire 3rd battalion was madly searching the palace grounds for him, but he was just… gone. I eased off my wings by switching to a trot, giving my wings a break. Celestia knew they needed it. Speaking of which…

As of late, the search for Solaris had only been executed within the grounds of the palace. Princess Celestia had said that she knew not where he was, but she at least knew that he was here… somewhere. Most of the guards were starting to become skeptical of that fact, but I still had faith in the princess.

‘Yeah right.’ I felt my ears flatten against the back of my head as I thought that. ‘I want to believe her, but how can I? We’ve turned this entire castle upside down looking for him, and not so much as a hair of him has been found. Even the unicorns scrying for his magical energy couldn’t track him.’

I stopped and sat down. I was in a rather neglected part of the castle somewhere down in the eastern wing, or at least I thought I was. The paintings, the antique suits of battle armor and all of the displays were covered in an inch thick layer of dust. In fact, it hadn't looked like anypony had come through this part of the castle in years.

Where was I? How did I managed to get lost? No, I wasn't lost... just geographically embarrassed... inside the castle I was supposed to know the layout of since I joined the guard.

I let out a sigh. "Some bucking guard I am. Can't even remember basic theory.' I thought as I lowered my head. I don't know how I managed to become a Lieutenant. It's kind of ridiculous when you think about it. I mean, I used to be good, but in times of peace, nothing really happens. There was those few times that the peace was disrupted, but those problems were always solved.

But not by the guard like it should have been.

We were trained in many fields in order to keep our country safe. We knew how to defuse a situation, we knew how to fight, we knew how to track and find ponies with ease. We used to be able to defend our country like we were supposed to.

So what happened.

The invasion of Canterlot was a big thing. And by a big thing, I really mean a big buck up. We were warned and everything. All the Captain did was put on extra guards and place a shield bubble spell around the city.

I don't mean to say anything bad about the Captain, but things could have been done far better.

If I were in charge, I would have had a unit of unicorns for the bubble shield to prevent them wearing themselves out like the Captain did. I would have had checkpoints throughout the city with the purpose of randomly stopping civilians and checking for their identification. I would have put those extra guards put on duty patrol around the palace and city, not just stand at posts like a bunch of morons.

It could have been done better, but it's not my place to question the Captain. Its what he wanted, so its what he got. But it wasn't enough.

I'd been hearing rumors amongst the guard. They've been saying that the dignitaries from other countries have actually been good enough to warn our princess of possible attacks. It was Gryphon leader who warned us about the Changeling attack, so its good to know that we at least have help from outside sources.

But when are we as a nation going to stop relying on the help of others and stand up on our own four hooves? Are we ever going to become the powerful nation we make ourselves out to be? Are we...

*Clang!*

My head instantly snapped to where I had heard the disturbance. It came from the other side of a door just a few metres away from me. It sounded like a metal pot had fallen onto the ground or something.

I got up and cautiously crept over to the door and placed my ear on it. I could hear something. It was quiet, really quiet, but still just hearable. It sounded like... quiet snoring that seemed to echo slightly. I carefully opened the door slightly and stuck my head through. What i saw made my jaw drop. Although I couldn't see his head, I could easily recognize him. His blue coat and lack of a cutie-mark was enough. Solaris, was asleep in what looked like a closet, with a large metal pan over his head.

I couldn't believe it. The guard had been searching for him for hours, but he had been here the whole time, sleeping in some closet that was in a part of the castle nopony ever went. I think I felt my eye twitching as anger started to flow through me.

But then something happened. As I looked at him, my anger seemed to vanish as quickly as it came. I knew that I shouldn't be watching him while he slept, I could probably get in trouble for doing so. But I couldn't help it. His hooves were moving around slightly, and he was mumbling something. He was dreaming.

But dreaming or not, he had somewhere to be.

I opened the door a little further and stepped into the small closet, standing over Solaris before reaching down and gently removing the pot from his head. The sudden movement must have stirred him, because he did something then that I would never forget.

The moment the pot came clear of his head, he subconsciously reached up, wrapped his hoof around my neck and pulled me down to the ground with him. I was so stunned that I didn't even realize what happened until I found myself laying on my side with a blue foreleg wrapped over my side and on my stomach. My body froze and my blood rushed to my cheeks faster than I could think.

'Oh no oh no.' I thought as I began to panic. I knew that I could be discharged from the guard for this. 'Ok Star. Calm down. Just take his hoof off you and get up.'

I slowly reached down to his hoof that rested on my stomach. My hoof brushed against his fur and I failed to suppress a shiver. I think he felt this because I felt his other hoof snaked under me and also wrap around my stomach before he pulled me closer and rested his head on the top of mine. For once... I REALLY wished I had my armor on. I-I had no idea what to do. Solaris, the son of Princess Celestia, was asleep in a closet... SPOONING ME!

'Oh gosh. I'm a dead mare.' I thought. Glimpses of possible outcomes started to pop up one by one in my mind, each one filling me with more and more dread. Panic started to flood my nerves. Fear of being hurt by Celestia herself.

With my veins being flooded with adrenaline, I forced myself out of Solaris's hold and stood up before bailing out of the closet, slamming the door closed again and standing with my back against the door. My eyes quickly scanned left and right, checking to see if anypony had seen what had just happened. I couldn't help but sigh and slide down to my rump when I found that the corridor was still just as empty as before. The whole situation had me so worried I was panting heavily, like I had just flown from canterlot to Vanhoover and back again.

'Alright you dumb colt. No more fooling around.'

----------

(A few minutes later.)

Once again, I found myself standing outside that same closet. But this time I was wearing my full set of armor, and had a look of pure determination on my face. I stormed up to the closet door and ripped it open, making a loud bang as it hit the wall. I glared down into the closet and as expected, the Prince was still there, fast asleep with no care in the world. Almost as if he intended to stay there for the rest of the day.

'Not on my watch.' I thought angrily before wrapping my hooves around one of his hind legs. I then opened my wings and flapped as hard as I could. It didn't take long for me to drag the body out into the middle of the corridor.

I threw his hoof to the ground, hoping that it would be enough to wake him, but nooo. He just continued to snore away like an idiot. I walked up and grabbed him by the shoulders and pulled him up into a sitting position. "Wake up Solaris!" I shouted as I shook him. I couldn’t help but sigh when he began to stir. His eyes fluttered open slowly and he gazed deep into my eyes, his own silver orbs making my blood freeze.

“S-Star? Wha- Agh!” I clenched his eyes shut again rolled over in pain, collapsing back down onto the floor. He curled up into a ball and held his stomach tight with his forehooves while groaning in pain. My breath caught as panic started to flood my mind.

“Solaris? Whats wrong?” I asked, placing a hoof onto his shoulder. I tried to roll him over, but her refused to budge. “Solaris, please. Tell me whats wrong?” I asked again, but with much more nervousness in my voice.

“M-My stomach. I feel like I’m about to-” Again, he didn’t finish his sentence as he opened his mouth wide and let forth a torrent of green bile as his stomach emptied its contents onto the ground in front of his face. His sudden outburst made me jump back in shock, but I quickly stepped back up beside him and rolled him into a recovery position so he wouldn't drown on his own vomit.

The smell hit me like a train. It wasn’t hard to tell that he had spent last night drinking. If I had to guess, I’d say that he emptied four kegs worth of hard cider if the amount he was puking up was anything to go by.

He continued to throw up for about 7 minutes, finishing with a few heaves and dry wretches before just falling limp and panting heavily. He needed a doctor, but I refused to leave his side. Not when he was in this state.

“Come on Solaris. We need to get you to bed.” I said, letting go of him and sliding my hooves under him to help him up. As I expected, he just groaned and lay limp, but decided to try and move. I helped him up to his hooves and pressed my side up against his, wrapping my wing around him to support him.

We began to walk, well more like trudge, our way through the castle. Solaris was dragging his hooves and his knees were shaky. Without me, he wouldn’t have even been able to stand up on his own. Each time we came to a corner, I had to nudge him to get him to turn.

“What happened to you? The guard has been looking for you all morning?” I asked. I don’t know why, maybe I was expecting to actually get a response from him, but he just kept his head hung low as we continued to walk.

We walked the rest of the trip back to Solaris’s room in silence. There were a few times we had to stop because he almost threw up again. Even worst was the amount of attention we drew each time we passed a maid or another guard. I told them to inform the Princesses and the Captain that the Prince has been found, but is incapable of attending breakfast.

As we reached his room, I opened his door and guided him in, but not towards his bed. I instead turned him in the direction of the bathroom. He didn’t try to resist against me, probably because he knew that he couldn’t. I walked him into the bathroom and helped him get into the bathtub. It was more like an in-ground pool, but it did the trick.

“Star? W-What are you doing?” he asked in a voice that was barely above a whisper. I didn’t answer and chose to instead just walk over to the faucet and turn it on. The bath began to slowly fill up and I risked a glance over at Solaris, only to see him staring at me with curiosity.

“Star?”

“I’m just trying to help you. I find that a nice quiet bath helps me with a strong hangover along with a tonne of aspirin and water. But I’ll have to get that in a moment. Just relax Solaris.” I said as I watched the bath fill up with nice hot water. When the bath was full, I turned off the faucet again and looked back to Solaris, only to see that he was still staring at me.

"What?"

"Why are you helping me?" He asked.

"I'm just trying to help out a friend. And besides, you're not the first pony with a hangover that I've had to help." I said.

"Oh yeah? Who else?" I sighed when he asked me that. It was something I really didn't want to talk about.

"Just an old friend." I answered and left it at that. "Now I'm going to be right back ok. I'm just going to get a few things to help you recover. Don't go and drown while I'm gone." I said as I began to make for the exit.

"Star wait." Solaris asked. I stopped right next to him and looked right into his eyes. "Please, don't go."he pleaded quietly.

"I need to Solaris. Somepony has to go and get you some medicine. You're not well." I said. I went to turn to leave again, but he grabbed my hoof with his own and squeezed it gently.

"Star... please."

I looked down at his hoof that was holding mine. I knew what I should have done. I should have shrugged him off and gone to get some medicine for him.

But I couldn't do it.

I sighed as I took off my helmet and placed it on the ground before laying down on the bath's edge next to him. "Alright Solaris. You win." I said as I dipped my forehooves into the water. "So, what now?"

"I dunno. But thanks. I don't want to be alone. I'm tired of being alone" He said quietly.

The room lapsed into silence for about 10 minutes. I spent that time just gazing around the room at various things that you normally would find in a bathroom. But Solaris, every time I looked at him, he was staring at his own reflection in the water.

"What's the matter?" I asked. He jumped slightly at the break of silence but he turned his head and looked at me with a tired smile.

"I've been thinking Star, about training you. Why is it that you want me to so badly?" He asked. I averted my gaze from his and looked down at my forehooves in the water.

"I just thought it would be a good life skill to have." I said. We fell into silence again, but I could feel his gaze burning a hole into the side of my head. He didn’t buy it. "Alright. But I don't want you talking to anypony else about this alright?"

"My lips are sealed." He promised. I let out a sigh before closing my eyes to collect my thoughts.

"This story goes back to when I was just a small filly..."

"Have you found him yet?" I asked nervously.

"No. He's still gone. And Omega is still looking for him." She said quietly before beginning to mumble to herself again.

"Where did he come from? I've looked over every scroll and found nothing. How can that be?" I asked.

"Because this sayian, Orion, was never supposed to exist." She said off into the distance. My eyes widened in shock. "His fight with Omega Shenron has altered the timeline. And if we don't find him soon, history will fall too far out of our control to fix."

“So then what do we do?”

"I'll just have to keep looking for him. He's out there... somewhere. It's just a matter of time."

Nice chapter. I like how Solaris is wanting companionship now. I can't wait to see what happens when you start trading his new apprentice.

6306993 Thanks. I'm just glad I still got readers after all this time.

It has returned, keep up the good work.

6307000 Will you be continuing the story regularly from now on? I'm a huge fan of this story!:pinkiehappy:

6309070 I cant say for sure buddy. I want to, i really do. But this writers block has me hard. Writing that last chapter was a pain. I would say that, if I do, it will be at a slower pace than I used to.

Well take your time bro. We waited this long. We can wait some more.

6310209 I've seen a picture of writers block a mr in small text it said
"The worst possible shit to have when writing a story especially if others depend on your writing...etc.
so true, ain't it?

I don't know what it is about me, but for some reason I love the thought of Solaris fighting, moving, heck pretty much anything while he's in his saiyan form rather than his pony form, I honestly have no clue why I feel this way I absolutely love this story, but my brain is just ' hey I wanna see more of his saiyan form' but in reality I love this story and it deserves a million out of ten.

I don't know if I wanna read this story. Most of the dee-bee-zed crossovers I've seen were about shitty Gary-Stus and had terrible spelling and grammar.

I glanced at a glock as i flew past it.

Who the fuck has a gun

This is shit. I'm so sick of what you fools do to these type of characters. 🖕
