Yeah..been reading too much dark fics here. I guess they rubbed off on me. I like situations where the characters are helpless to do anything to prevent their fate. it makes it seem so..empty, devoid, and scary. It makes your heart race, kinda like in those fics where they detail it so much you can feel it happening to you.*AhemCheerilee'sGardenAhemcough*

Well, you get what you sow, or something like that. You started the ball rolling and I just threw it into the darkest corner I could find, then stabbed it with my tears of ice.
I really wanted to see a story like this, but instead of bitchin about it, I figured, eh why not write one? This was the result, although I think it turned out darker than I originally planned..I was gonna have her save the town but then I wanted to see them pop. We all know which desire won out.

Maybe a distraught Celestia is shown months later, piecing the towns ponies back together one scrap of latex at a time. Someday, her jigsaw puzzle will be complete... and she can try to undo the damage. But would the ponies she resurrect be the same, or would they be twisted, empty husks?

Yes..I see it now, she could make a near infinite amount of pony-combinations from the scraps, and one missing piece means the pony will not be complete..as though each shred contained a part of their soul/memories, and each one lost is a blank space in their mind..Dash could forget how to fly, the Elements could lose their grasp of their owners, and Twilight could end up insane and empty, her language all but erased from her mind. And then Celestia would have to decide between saving them and reviving them to a life without themselves, or destroying them again in an effort to bring peace to their scattered souls..You make me think in many dark ways, Kaidan.

Funny thing, that. I don't usually rely on my description to run the story, I just let the words flow and this was the result. I could rewrite it, but I'm not so good at that. I mean, spoiling the story in the description is like the ticket counter guy telling you the main character dies at the end of the movie.
I could try and make it better, but I like to make people guess. Just because it's Sad/Dark, that doesn't spell out the ending completely. The unexpected is what keeps me running for dark fics.
That's like when people tell me my Random fics are 'too silly' or 'made no sense'
As long as the reader enjoyed, I can't ask for more!
I know this isn't what you intended probably, but I'm adopting the head-canon that a short time later the shreds of the first balloons begin reforming and reconnect into the popped individuals, just deflated and waiting for someone like princess Celestia or Zecora to come along and breathe air and life back into them. The town might be stuck as squeaky pop-able balloons for the time being, but at least they'll reform given timke and can be re-inflated back to life and mobility.
Anybody else care to join me in that idea?

This brings up an interesting point to me. Twilight has so much power that, if she didn't live in a children's show, her mistakes could kill, easily. Her first magical surge turned two ponies into plants, trapped what I assume was a number of trained mages, and turned Spike into a full-grown dragon. That could have easily been channeled into something far worse - one of the simplest scenarios would be everypony in the room bursting into flames. Now imagine how much her power has grown since then. If she slipped casting a spell, she could incinerate half of Equestria. Really, this was nowhere near the worst-case scenario.
Wow. I enjoy this sort of thing but... geez. This was the fetishists version of a horror movie, complete with a hefty helping of guilt. I kind of feel like I just watched an animated snuff film. I mean, thumbs up, and all that, but... damn.

I'm glad you liked it, but I'd be wary if this is the "best fic" in your recent reading. I mean, I'm a fan of my own writing, but this was nightmare fetish fuel. I think I'm putting more effort into the sequel than into the whole thought process of this fic, so I'm surprised it ranks so high for you.
Might I ask why? I'm genuinely interested to know.
something just made me want to finish this fic it was the perfect balance of horror and sex and it was very thought provoking for some reason. It even had my hart rate up at the end not many if any fics can do that and i am going to read your sequel as well

Sorry it jolted you but sometimes there's just something so exquisitely dark about permanent or drastic transformations when done properly.
