Upon her first use of darkness its taste lingered within her mind, creating an ever growing thirst and revealing her true desires. With her recent elevation to an alicorn and princess she begins to find her desire for power insatiable. Small seemingly inconsequential steps grow into giant leaps, pushing her senses of morality and reason.

Besides, doesn't the ends justify the means? For a queen can accomplish so much more than a princess....

A few years after retiring, Celestia and Luna went on an extended vacation to see the world and broaden their experiences. Now, almost forty years later, they have returned to their roots in Equestria, at least for a while.

Four decades is a long time, so Twilight and Celestia decide to catch up over tea. However, it seems that Twilight has changed more than Celestia expected.

A changeling who has lived at the side of an Equestrian mare for most of his life finds himself in the middle of the changeling invasion of Canterlot. He has no idea who the invading queen or hive are, and just wants to stay where he is, and more importantly, who he is.

The spell that ends the invasion doesn't discriminate, though. With his old pony form irreversibly stripped away, and the whole kingdom out to hunt his kind, he tries to keep his family together, and struggles to find his place in the world.

Spike notices how Twilight’s been dodging Starlight’s advances without explaining why. Spike is getting annoyed by this little routine and confronts Twilight on the matter. When asked about this, Twilight’s answer is much more complex than Spike realizes.

All Rainbow wanted to do was give her friends what she saw as the ultimate gift: the placement of their marks within the night sky. But the offer was a lie. And after Twilight finds out what happened with Rainbow's trial run, she heads off to confront the con artists and get Rainbow's bits back. After all, nopony can just go and create an official constellation just because they feel like it.

But recovering the money isn't that simple.

Twilight loses her magical powers due to a reason unknown to her. She soon begins to question what she should do for the remainder of her life. Meanwhile, Trixie hears of this news, and with the intention on getting revenge on Twilight, decides to pay the librarian a visit. However, when the showpony arrives, she begins to feel differently about her 'rival'.

Luna is sent, along with young Twilight, to old Neighpon to try and quell the feuding warlords with diplomacy. And, if that fails, reduce the bloodshed as much as possible. Turns out that Luna is the kind of mare that likes to jokingly flirt and see how far she can go to make the other uncomfortable.
Boy is she in for a surprise.

So the inspiration for a lot of aesthetic and naming is primarily Japanese, however I'm taking from all of the orient and I'm being fairly loose with the accuracy. Translations and terminology won't be exact, don't expect a historical rendition of feudal japan in pony form here fellas.
