Schadenfreude goes to get a pizza for Blueblood. It goes about as regularly as a fiberless diet.

(With a special guest! Kind of. It gets weird. You've been warned.)

Following a most unpleasant encounter at one of Canterlot's great parties, Prince Blueblood decides that he is tired of everyone thinking that he is a lazy, empty-headed ponce. He decides the only solution is to have a grand adventure and reinvent himself, becoming the good, dignified, heroic Prince that everypony expects him to be.

The only problem is he's a lazy, empty-headed ponce.

It is said that every dog has its day, that every wrong will be eventually righted, and that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. For Prince Blueblood, these were simply words that applied to other ponies; he had no problem stomping over, mowing down, destroying, or flattening any pony who stood in his way.

Until today.

In his influential analysis of the coup d'etat that would become known as the Rutting Revolution, Curly Marks wrote that history repeats itself — "the first time as tragedy, the second time as Prince Blueblood."

Marks actually used other words in place of the name, but this is a family-friendly publication.

This story is a sequel to Princess Luna is dead. Again.

He really should have known better. Saying that he didn't like Princess Luna, even if she could no longer hear him, would have probably lost him the sympathy of many ponies in Canterlot, and it had been perhaps a rash decision for an expert diplomat like him. Still, the damage would not have been irreparable. But how was he supposed to know that she was still alive? Clearly, jumping out of the window had been the only logical course of action after that.

The earth melts. The skies darken. Celestia has tired of being the nice princess, and the shadow of the sun has overtaken her.

To Prince Blueblood's immense regret, he can't leave this one to Sparkle and company.

Princess Twilight Sparkle may have been hoofed over the reins to Equestria, but that doesn't mean that everypony is perfectly happy with the arrangement, or her approach to rulership. While she's used to pushback from the likes of Neighsay, who are simply set in their ways and clinging to backward ideals, sometimes criticism isn't so easily dismissed.

Prince Blueblood is one such case. His grievances aren't imagined and rooted in bigotry, but infuriatingly reasonable, as he's pointed out a blind spot in her plans for the future. Of course, gracious stallion that he is, he's not just going to complain. He's going to help with that. And with Twilight facing down the knock-on effect of her reputation spreading to other species, she isn't in a position to say no.

But is his advice really the right kind, in this new age?
