Eyeswirl the Weirded

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-hm?

T

A ruler is defined by those that follow them.

Queen Chrysalis is the master of a cunning hive. What they lack in strength, they make up for in number, what they lack in raw power, they make up for in skill. What they lack in individual smarts... Well, Chrysalis tells them what to do anyway.

The swarm is a good army, for all but one member. The queen decides to have a talk with that one.

Only a "Sad" tag? hmmm let's have a look see.

I liked it :pinkiehappy:
are you going to make other stories with them or is this just a one-shot?

Hmm, i liked it, especially the part about the alicorn amulet. the fact that it barely affected him at all shows just how little evil blueblood has inside him. I would love to see some sequels, preferably with the romance and adventure tags.

Sorry, but the reason I wrote this as a one-shot was because I'm already working on so much other stuff that there was little chance I'd ever get around to Chrysalis And The Worst Minion Ever's Misadventures in Villainy. It probably would have been a longer version of the bits Chrysalis summarized up to the half-way point, little hints of her growing affection for the dolt, who may or may not have been playing dumb to keep the only being that visibly cared about him vaguely happy while avoiding doing anything truly evil. It would probably go from somewhere around the middle of Season 1 to present, or at least the point where Chrysalis didn't feel the need to scheme in the shadows anymore.

So, I'm afraid this is probably it for these two by me. :twilightsheepish:

5797475 No, it is most certainly not alright! You go and raise my hopes for a thrilling Blysalis Shipping series, only to stomp them into the dirt! However the fact that you are steadily working on more stories shall sate my gnawing hunger for feels.

... How this just 'sad'? There's more than sad! XD

You can only have a sad tag or a comedy tag, and it would have been a little misleading if I went with the latter. :twilightsheepish:

Doesn't quite feel slice-of-life-ish, either, what with the affiliation with an evil queen and bumbling up of criminal efforts. Not really something for the every day, I think.

5808146 It's a slice of changeling life, just experienced by a pony prince.

*beat, pause, and mushes together plushies of Blueblood, Gilda, and Chrysalis*

How much does Chrysalis see herself in his story, I wonder... Depending on how much individuality the swarm has, she may have spent her entire life surrounded by either prey that were stupid enough to be fooled or meat-puppets that exist only as an extension of her will. No one who would (or could) care about her.

Chrysalis (in this interpretation) may just be a stressed, lonely mare. One more piece of justification for the Sad tag, that.

I have a weakness for stories such as these, where a character just doesn't quite mesh with the friendly, magical world around them. Blueblood's inability to form meaningful relationships with other ponies (in spite of his efforts) was oddly compelling. That his repeated attempts to engage with ponies around don't so much backfire as they fizzle out works in his story's favour.

I must also agree with NemoSpecific's comment, that Chrysalis probably sees something of herself in Blueblood's story. Certainly, that moment of recognition, when she insists that he call her 'Chrysalis' is a perfect ending to this perfectly put-together tale.

(Incidentally, I'm adding this story to my arsenal of examples that I throw at people when they ask why Prince Blueblood is my favourite character. )

6024359 Glad you enjoyed! Also glad to be part of the reason BB isn't universally despised! :pinkiehappy:

It was an occurrence akin to if she had flown in through the window of the Canterlot Palace throne room, not even in disguise, used Celestia's flank as a pillow, and said "Oh, don't worry about me, just gonna rest here a while. You guys don't mind, do you?"

Story.
Now.

This story got more complex as I read it. And the more I read Blueblood's speech about how no one cared or just happened not to notice him was very riveting.

I love the premise this story, its so simple but so cool, you should write more

Oh this was a good story, but your missing one good AU. Running into Rarity and her trying to kill him. And him falling in love with her for it.

I really like this story.

First off, it adds character to Blueblood and Chrysalis, two of my favorites who need more character. This fic makes them both distinct from every other character in the show, in very believable ways.

Second off, Blueblood's character is heartbreaking. I go out of my way to say hello to everyone, because of people like him. People who are constantly unnoticed.

Third off, I don't know. This story seemed funny at first, but Bluebllod explained himself, and it suddenly became almost philosophical. I can't really explain it, but it resonated with me.

10/10 Will read again. Easily in my top twenty favorite stories on this site. Maybe even top ten.

I had initially intended to space out the goofy, failure-as-a-villain antics over the course of whole canon seasons as the two grew closer in spite of them, with Blueblood's two speeches (his backstory and his revelations on apathy) taking place chapters apart or being something Chrysalis, emotion-reading creature that she is, riddling them out herself, but I just knew it would be another story I never actually got around to updating, so one-shotting it was a compromise.

Still, glad you enjoyed the outcome! :pinkiehappy:

this is still the best story I've read on here
