Octavia is a high-class pony. Fine alcohol is her wont, and uncouthness her intense chagrin. Such is her surprise to find herself lumbered with an insufferable oaf of a DJ pony. However, sometimes these situations work themselves into a satisfactory ultimatum all the same.

Octavia is usually calm and collected but once in a while things go a step too far. Arriving home from a very bad day in Canterlot it seems that life is determined to test the limits of her sanity.

She is gone. Her own mother, not by blood, but by sheer love, is gone. The one who brought the joy of music into her life, the one who gave her everything she never thought she could have... is gone.

But she will carry on the beat.

I really just... Sure, I thought having a bachelorette party would be nice. Certainly, after the year I had, I wouldn't say no to a relaxing weekend in Canterlot with my friends, but instead, I get Bon-Bon confessing that she's a secret agent, and oh yes, she wants me to do a little light espionage for her. There are roughly a hundred things wrong with that statement, but by far, the worst one is that I, Octavia Melody, bastion of rationality, agreed to help her.

Note: The first three chapters are the story. The last two chapters are the originally published drafts that I'm keeping around in case someone actually preferred that version of events and so I have a monument to the fact that I can make some really stupid writing decisions sometimes.

Octavia has something she needs to say. It's something she's needed to say for some time. Something that isn't easy for her to say, but something that must be said all the same. On her latest visit to an old friend, she decides to finally get it off her chest.

Vinyl's best friend is a little bit too "friendly".
