Scootaloo, in her never-ending quest to learn how to fly, talks with her only friend in flight school, Rumble, after being saved from an accident involving a terribly electrostatic cloud.

Apparently, this story was featured on the day it was published. Though for only a brief number of hours (during which I was asleep) I am thankful to the mods for seeing this story fit to be in that little box at the front page.

`Scootaloo hung her head glumly, her right fore-hoof absently drawing an indistinguishable pattern on the wood of her desk. Her purple eyes drifted wistfully to one of the windows. The sun was shining and a light breeze was blowing, a perfect day to be out.

But she was stuck here.

With both of her friends sick one day from school, Scootaloo has to find somepony else to hang out with. Terrible taunts, slimy spitballs and errant TV quotes ensure.

Rumble left Ponyville when he was old enough to. First place he went: Cloudsdale, the place any right minded pegasus would go. Rumble was tired of the ground, and was ready for things to start looking up, so to speak. The past is in the past, and he only wants the future.

However, after a few months of living there, he finds something behind his apartment building that makes him think he didn't put quite enough distance between himself and Ponyville.

A broad, clear path runs through a deep wood on the far side of Ponyville.

After Scootaloo finds out Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle are going to be away for the first day of summer she has to find her own fun. At Sugarcube Corner she meets another young pegasus named Rumble who's in a similar predicament. They agree to race but after a close finish they can't agree on who actually won the race.
