When Maud visits the Perilous Peaks, a place full of strangely silent creatures called Kirin, in search of a new friend for her pet rock Boulder, she comes across a mountaintop where she meets a very special Kirin named Autumn Blaze, who just might have the perfect friend for Boulder... and Maud herself.

Marble Pie, a taciturn farmer with self-esteem contrary to the durability of her crops.

Autumn Blaze, a gregarious kirin who's severely out of touch with the world outside her home.

These two girls wouldn't survive in the city if they ever had to endure its hard lifestyle. It would help develop characters, but only if they don't get eaten alive first.

It would kinda defeat the purpose for them to develop themselves if they stayed together to work off one another, but it might be fun to see what would happen if they did.

They might even learn something.

Sacred duty. Unending rage. Their battle has been a long time coming now it is here at last. Mankind can only watch on as a Final Hope clashes with an Unyielding Wrath. A group of friends must find a way to appease the two or watch the world be burned in their unending battle.

Autumn Blaze has been having problems controlling her anger. And as she goes for a walk, she encounters Treehugger, a pony who is capable of putting rare creatures at ease. The pony offers her to help her calm down with therapeutic bliss.

There, inside of a dark forest, a single Kirin survives alone. What once was a place of wonder turned into a death trap where the dead shambled and ate anything still alive.

Autumn Blaze can't cure her friends, but maybe... maybe she can find a way to calm them down. Also, using innocent woodland creatures to feed them feels a little amoral to her. Even though it had gotten to a point calling each and every one of her fallen buddies by name is foolish; it wouldn't hurt to help them. It wouldn't hurt to soothe them.

Autumn Blaze longs for words to the ancient songs. When the Ponyfolk arrive—homeless and terrified—their branch having been severed by the voracious Wyrm, she thinks she has found what she is looking for. But, the frightened and frustrated Ponies quickly wear out their welcome in the eyes of the other Kirin, and the threat of the Wyrm still looms.

A railroad encampment has been besieged by odd incidents. Ever since they set up camp near the Peaks of Perils, mysterious fires have been happening, along with reports of a demonic-like creature. An expedition sets out from Canterlot to investigate.
