Having left Opaline for good, Misty is still trying to get used to the big changes in her life: Living in Maretime Bay, and having actual friends.

To make matters worse, Misty is still plagued with guilt over the role she played in helping Opaline become so powerful. And the guilt continues to linger despite the reassurances of her friends.

Then, one day, Misty runs into a friend of Sunny and Hitch that hasn't really hung out with them in a long time. But Sprout seems to know at least a little about what Misty is going through, in fact, he claims he can relate. Yet neither he or Misty suspects that something might be blooming between them.

On her way to work with her smoothie cart one morning, Sunny happens to bump into Sprout and notices that he's looking rather unhappy. Soon, she begins to feel like she's unintentionally forgotten all about him, and so has everypony else.

Determined to cheer Sprout up and make him happy again, Sunny convinces her friends to join with her to give Sprout a surprise birthday party. But they'll have to be quick, because Sprout's birthday is only a few days away!

Can Sunny and her friends get everything ready in time for Sprout's big day?

Sprout Cloverleaf has fallen from his one time, lofty and cushy job and secure financial future to become perhaps thee most despised pony in all of Equestria. As Hitch Trailblaizer's deputy and the defacto CEO of Canterlogic Inc. once his mother stepped down from the position, Sprout had a future any pony would've envied. But, in the blink of an eye, he threw away his whole life over baseless fears and bigotry.

Sprout now must face the consequences of his actions, face an uncertain future where everything he took for granted is gone and must learn to rebuild a life for himself. With help from some old friends and from a few new ones he will meet along the way, he will face many challenges and heartbreak in the quest to reclaim his life. Will he make the right choice(s) when pressed, or will he fall back on old habits that ruined his life before and could very well ruin him again.

While everypony who's anypony likes Winter Wishday, Sprout does not. He cares not for it in the slightest, and isn't afraid to voice his displeasure of it regardless of whether or not he's asked.

However, Sprout's friends in Sunny and Hitch become worried about Sprout's dislike of the holiday, and decide they need to try to at least get him to see it from a different point of view.

Then, that night, Sprout receives some unexpected visitors as he is made to confront his past, present and future in regards to Winter Wishday. And by the time it's over, he just might come to learn something new about others, or maybe even himself.
