It's so simple, isn't it? Owning land is cut and dry because once it's owned, it's always going to be the same, never changing. That's what the Apples may have believed but the day Apple Bloom sees for her own eyes a forgotten truth, it becomes apparent that more ponies might have claims to the land than they do. And owning land becomes the most uncertain thing ever.

(Author's note: This piece was written in a short amount of time. If it helps, look at Chi and Canary as a metaphor for the nature of wanting to own land and the idea that more than one group can claim to own the same territory. The story doesn't focus on them because there's no changing the past, making them important side characters to a greater issue. There's no ongoing villain or anything suspenseful to stop. The story begins and ends with a question like the question of whether the Apples and the Pies share ancestry. It might not come to a conclusion but it's not really meant to. I want people to come up with their own thoughts on how things would turn out for everyone involved. In this case, the two opposing forces are families who have the same kind of history. )

(Author's note 2: This is written for the Poniverse Summerpalooza 3.0 contest. The theme is about family. I choose to expand on one family's personal history. Pixel and Buffy are characters owned by Poniverse but make a cameo for story purposes. )
